Some white people have, what I would call a good falsetto and some don't (nasal-squeeking Bee Gees for example). Some black people have good falsettos and some don't. Much of it is subjective anyway but to tie it to a race/ethnic background???? Not intelligent (or accurate) ! Please note that nowhere was it stated in a serious tone by me that absolutely no white males would have a decent falsetto and that all black males would have a good falsetto (which is implied by yourself as the content of what I have said within the context of this thread). Don't make up the other persons argumentation in your own head yourself and then attribute that to them - especially as the notion of ironic intent has openly been brough up several times already. Once more, the "" -emoticon implies irony, not an entirely serious statement. How hard is that to understand? What I have stated myself is: "you can usually tell a white male's falsetto from a black person's [sic] falsetto very easily" - and that one I will stick by nevertheless, and there was no ironic intent attached to that one at all. Now, how harsh a statement would an expression like "you can usually tell pretty easily" define in anyone's mind? Well, you can usually tell a white person's falsetto from a black person's. You just admitted that yourself by defining one typical aspect often associated to the white falsetto voice by bringing out the attribute of "nasal-squeeking" as in the case of the Bee Gees. So what's the exact point of your argumentation anyway? For that matter, science really has no part in defining whether something "sounds good or not".

Patrick did NOT destroy Prince. However, he did do a great job covering IWBYL. I got more respect for him with that, even with the rough spots. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

novabrkr - "ironic intent" - whatever !
Your marvelous grasp of irony aside, you have made a comment based on race and even if this is designed to be conveyed with an element of humour, it is still likely to endorse/perpetuate someone else's (who may not possess the same undoubted degree of ironic humour as yourself) own racial stereotypes - and, thus, be a negative an unintilligent comment. BTW - my comment re the BeeGees admitted no such thing about " defining one typical aspect often associated to the white falsetto" - I wasn't aware it was a typical aspect!! Is it? Or is that another stereotype you are ironically imparting?? Of course it isn't a typical aspect - there is no such thing. You replied to Japan rock's post that you are white and no what your own falsetto sounds like - so what? - that in no way supports your comment re what a "whiteboy falsetto" (if any such thing existed would sound like), it just means that you don't think you have a good falsetto. Are you a great soccer player or great at skiing - if you are or aren't does that mean that other white people are as likely to be great (or bad) at soccer or skiing?? I believe Denzel Washington is a great actor - does that mean that other black guys are likely to be great actors too? Of course not - we are all individuals and our colour does not /should not tie us to being typically anything ! I clearly stated that some don't have great falsetto's (thus no way a defining/typical aspect) e.g. the BeeGees who, in my opinion, do not have great falsetto voices. I find them, and it is subjective - as stated - a tad nasally and squeeky - but I have no concept of this being a white falsetto trait/aspect. How hard is that to understand? (is this where I put an emoticon which will negate anything moronic I may have said?) Personally, I'm not gonna lose any sleep over your post and nor shall I spend any more time responding to it. emoticon, emoticon [Edited 5/20/09 10:17am]

Was Patrick VonStump doing a french or italian version of that song..?
Makes me think - was Prince's version of "I wanna be you lover" inspired by the BeeGee's? Who else sang like that around that time?

I doubt Prince would be impressed!! Hmm, wasn't the lyric "I wanna be the only one that makes you come...running"? As opposed to FOB's "I wanna be the only one that makes you come, one day" The guitar work was good. The falsetto? Cute, but clearly he was straining his voice. Nice tribute track! Some people tell me I've got great legs...

It's cute... few dodgy vocal moments and the guitar dosn't sound like a guild. I don't know how they miced it up but it sounds like a cheap guitar.
Still cute | |

I thought he pulled his off quite nicely. And he wielded it, perhaps more maturely, in "Earthquake Weather".
