About a week and a half for "Lotusflower". About three days for "MPLShitpop" and I could only take it in small doses at a time.
Andy is a four letter word.

yeah about a week and then I was done. Now I only listen to a song or two off each from time to time. I haven't stopped getting new music since the release so it just kept getting pushed to the bottom of the pile.

I was addicted to MPLSound which was a complete surprise up until 2 weeks ago and could not stop listening to track 3 and up and now I'm back onto LF and MS is now calling my name so I'm hooked on these releases! Elixer has rcvd 1 play which is kinda pathetic but true

I listen to it in moderation, don't want to burn myself out on listening to any one CD over and over too much. Most recently, been really getting into the last track "Back To The Lotus". Had to un-stick myself from "Old Skool Company", because I was running that track entirely too much, lol. Prince in a genius/maniac in the studio. What a great idea he had building Paisley Park back in the day, because there's probably no record company on the planet that would have allowed him the time it must have taken him in the studio to put this 3-disc project together - this set is flawless!

Since the invent of such things as a random play on a 50 cd changer to current playlist on my fav media player.... I never listen to just 'one album' for too long any way before it simply becomes part of the collective.

That way I'm never burnt out on anything. I occasionally will go..... hmmmmm.. and listen to just one album or set recording straight... but thats not my normal listening habits.

Just out of interest, has anyone noticed in the song Chocolate Box, Prince does his first heavy breathing in years, I mean what does he have to do to please his fans. MPLsOUND is an ultimate trip back to his 80s heyday.

Some people have no interest in being pleased, and are rather invested in discontent (regardless of the options). If it's floating your boat, you're going to have to make do with that, or else be the dump site of a lot of unhappy folks. The high point of some peoples day is being the turd in the punch-bowl, lol. Though I agree, MPLSound is Slam-Bammin!

Still going strong on Lotusflow3r & hopin I don't
burn out be4 the Summer really kicks in lol It's so good!
MPLSOUND i have been playing a little less this last
couple of weeks, but i still love it of course.
I also have the Leno & Ellen performances on my iPod
so I hit those A LOT. Like I like the live groove of
FBFGFW live a little better than the album cut.

Still listening heavily 2 both 'Lotusflow3r', and also 'MPLsound'. They R in heavy rotation. 'Lotusflow3r' always plays from beginning 2 end. I have 2 skip "Never B Another Like Me" on 'MPLsound', but the rest plays through.

'Lotusflow3r' gets played at home on a proper stereo system, where 'MPLsound' gets blasted in my car, unless I feel like playing guitar or bass 2 it... then it comes inside.

PEACE.

At work, I listen to Lotusflow3r but skip "Boom" a lot. 4Ever has become my cut. I hit MPLSOUND in the ride but I skip NBALM, CB and Ol' School Company all of which I wouldn't listen to no matter who wrote it. Just seems plastic and souless to me. Oh dang, I didn't say anything about Bria's album did ? Ok, then...been there...done that.

My pleasure, that was a great memory from back in the day. I was just happy to be able to share it in a forum where there were people who could appreciate it. nod

I haven't really stopped listening to them. Although I don't really bother w/ Elixer... it's tough pill to swallow. I seem to lean toward Lotusflow3r more b/c I hate the 2 opening trax on MPLSoUND, but I love the rest of the album for the most part. Lotusflow3r has me hooked though, it's a badass cd in my opinion.

Lotusflow3r is grest in the sense that its a standard Prince album with at least 4 styles coming through in the songs. Meaning rockers like Dreamer and Colonized Mind, groovy jazz instrumentals like Back to the Lotus, inspired ballads like Crimson and clover, simple catchy pop like Boom and sexy ass shakers like $. The thing with Prince is you don't get one generic form of music say like you do with Maroon 5 or Keith Urban or a rapper or a booty shakin pop group. Its not like you have the same drum machine beat and squeaky vocals on Princes albums like you do with say Beyonce or the Pussy Cat Dolls. Prince is all over the place with his music and its obvious he can play several genres on one album, a talent few can do, and this may anger some people who can not be bothered with the complexity of the man. His complexity and breath of musical range is the main reason why I am such a fan of him. What I am saying is some people can not handle Prince's genius.
And yet you think MPLsOUND an album where he deliberately does one style (Upbeat, poppy, dancefloor funk with a bit of rhyming prose) that would satisfy the naysayers but no. Surely if Prince has not tried to corner the market with this latest group of releases, then nothing can contain the market. Meanwhile I am off to enjoy the brilliance of those albums again, especially after the hassle of getting them in the first place (I live in New Zealand remember)

Still listening to it; each time I hear more -- that's one of the truths I've come to understand about Prince music--takes time to get to the full flavor and effect, treasure hunt.

thumbs up!
