How long have you listened to Lotusflower?

To me, after one week the whole 3 cd set was dead.
I guess it's quite embarassing, but it's true.
I don't know what happened in the last 15 years: Prince is the best live performer, but as a studio artist he sucks (apart from "only for die-hard fans albums" like ona piano e news). confused
In God we trust.

I am listening to it right now @ work. I have been listening to Mplsound for about 3 weeks and Lotusflow3r for over a week. It's actually growing on me and I find the project quite interesting and fun. Final verdict is not out but this is good stuff!

To me, the best part of the 3 cd set is the central opus, that is Lotusflow3r.
Each day, I give it at least one listen. It's a tight and relaxing album.
I know what U mean, Aloisio, the last powerful Prince album to me is The Gold Experience, with a highlight in 2001 with The Rainbow Children, but Lotusflow3r is way more cohesive than the last bunch of records he put out in recent years and sounds more inspired than a heavy 3121 galore.

I lasted about 2 weeks. Tried again the other night. Barely got through Lotus. Got to "Chocolate Box" on MPLSound before I turned it off in sheer boredom.

Still listening heavily 2 both 'Lotusflow3r', and also 'MPLsound'. They R in heavy rotation. 'Lotusflow3r' always plays from beginning 2 end. I have 2 skip "Never B Another Like Me" on 'MPLsound', but the rest plays through.

'Lotusflow3r' gets played at home on a proper stereo system, where 'MPLsound' gets blasted in my car, unless I feel like playing guitar or bass 2 it... then it comes inside.

PEACE.

I'm still listening to both Lotusflow3r and MPLsound - with Lotusflow3r getting about twice the spins between the two.

Elixer never got out of the gate. disbelief

NONSENSE

I alternate between Lotusflow3r and MPLs at home, work, car. Can't get enough of Back 2 Lotus, Boom, Crimson, and Colonized Mind. Elixer will get much more play once I'm finished toying with the Prince disc. They seem better suited for my summer time mood wink

me too. i totally love the lotusflower album. the other two are nice but
suffer from the same 2004-2007 syndrome of wearing too thin too quickly.

Lotus Flower is a very strong album. Beginning to end. I love it. Play it in the car all the time.

MPLSound I was disappointed with. wore thin very quickly, and havent listened to is since it came out. I'll get back to it eventually, many Prince albums are "growers", so we will see if this one can grow some roots.

I'm kinda taking a break from Prince music as a whole right now to listen to other music on my iPod but I felt the urge to listen to Lotusflow3r and MPLSound on Friday while on the subway and I was still loving it. I played Dance 4 Me and Here yesterday. I'm back to playing other music right now but I know from Friday that I'm still digging Lotus and MPLS hard. music
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It took me a little while but now Lotus is in heavy rotation with me. Not so much for MPLS, not a fan. I like Old Skool Company, No More Candy and Valentina a little, but other than that it does not hold my interest at all. I am not sure what about it makes it feel like "Old School MPLS sound" There is nothing on it that reminds me of the music that I fell in love with it in the first place. Where is the "chicken grease guitar", maybe a Let's Work bass groove or something. It just seemed like his effort to try and be R&B relevant which is almost impossible for him as it feels just like that, an effort. I certainly do miss those days when a Prince album for me was slammin from start to finish. I haven't had that in awhile, probably Gold, maybe Rainbow Children (but that was certainly different) Also with no record deal, means no radio play, which I am not sure what would make a good single for airplay, which also means no real live concert excitment beyond the diehards and there are not enough of those to fill the areans around the country which will mean another greatest hits tour as the general masses will not a hundred dollar concert ticket for songs they do not know.

There are a few people that seem to have some kind of attention deficit disorders and they ooloose interest in things very quickly, I'm not one of them, I'm getting my money's worth out of Lotusflow3r still, and enjoying every minute of it. smile
