YOUR WTF PRINCE LYRICS

Ole narcissistic MRmisunderstood has a way with words and poetry. But sometimes you hear a lyric and you just have to go WTF?? As was the case with Soul Sanctuary although I still dig the track.

Loving U in passion unmolested in this garden
Mango and nectarine, sweet honeydew, I beg your pardon

- When i read it, it dont' compute and therefore falls into my WTF category.

I also have to give a WTF to this one

Ain't no assistance in AIDS
- Dear Mr Man.
Is he saying there's not enuf money given or that the money given is useless?

3 quarters in a glass, I see u smile and ask
If I flip 'em on my stomach will u marry my ass?
I'd be like "Yeah man"

- The Continental

Given this song is about Mayte I found it to be a tad of a diss. Like she had to bargain with him or some shit in order to get that ring.

so what Prince lyric makes you go WTF?

Mayte, as a child, used to perform that sword and dance routine seen in the 3 Chains video on That's Incredible!. Of course she did it as an adult too. That line is from the woman's point of view, Prince thinking he's all that and that this chick wants him. Not a diss, just a reference to Mayte in general.

As far as Mr. Man, I think he just means there's not enough money or attention still paid to it.

I like the interpretation of both. Makes sense from that viewpoint. I will remove them from the WTF box but the lines from Soul Sanctuary stay, lol

For me, a WTF moment would have to be the line in "One of Your Tears" - "Better than the used condom you sent me..."

I understand that line perfectly, I just couldn't beleive it was smack dab in the middle of such a beautiful song!

Everybody Knows What Happens
When U Worship From Afar
The Ebb And Flow Of Angels
Dancing Around The Star
And If The Sunrise Still A Question
The Answer's In The Dark
Celibate
Mashroom

This starts to puzzle me w/ Dancing around the star, I like the song but the end is confusing to me

{B-side of Arms Of Orion}
She took off her dress, and I took a peek
While thunder storm played hide and seek
I begged for a kiss, she gave me 7
Our lips touched and it feel like heaven

Everything I want is what she does to me
She don't blush 'cause she's so damned free
When she makin' love it's like surgery
And she say, ooh
I love U in me

I promised myself not to come until she does
And she took both hands and a liar I was
No man in this world could ever hope 2 last
When my baby down shifts and starts pumpin' fast

Everything I want is what she does to me
She don't blush 'cause she's so damned free
When she makin' love it's like surgery
And she say, ooh
I love U in me

I love U, I love U, in me

Our bodies sink in a pool of sweat
It's the kind of love that U never forget (Never forget)
With U honey, I'm the richest in the world (So rich)
I don't need money 'cause u're my girl (Need money cause u're my girl)

Everything I want is what she does to me
She don't blush 'cause she's so damned free
When she makin' love it's like surgery (Surgery)
And she say, ooh
I love U in me

I love U in me

Everything I want is what she does to me
U don't blush 'cause she's so damned free (So free)
When we makin' love it's like surgery (Yeah)
And she say, ooh
I love U in me

(I love U)
Yeah
(Ooh, I love U in me)

I think this is a little troubling too. Like surgery? I mean the only thing that comes to mind is the show Nip/Tuck, b/c everything seems to be possible on that show. But weirdo lyrics.

it's about adam and eve, making love in the garden of eden with
an uncorrupted/unmolested passion (no shame, no knowledge).

he then apologises to her for his mouth running over with xtc,
the taste of mango, nectarine and sweet honeydew.

so we may assume he's giving her head and she tastes of fruit,
and he excuses for salivating horribly at it all.

falloff

the only thing i don't get is why he would appologize for his
mouth "running over with xtc" is this is before knowledge and
or shame.

if the lovemaking is still innocent and unmolested, surely a
mouth brimming with xtc is even less worthy of adam's first
conscious thought regarding sex.

lol

I think the songs, minus one or two, are really strong. "Guitar", "The 1 U Wanna C" are great pop songs. "S.H.O.E.' is a beautiful ballad, as is the title track. And I love that the album is off track for Prince and he starts the CD with a ballad. It's a cross between "Imagine" and "Earth Song" for him. I love the playfulness of "Mr. Goodnight" (minus the spoken word part), and "Future Baby Mama". I could do without "Lion of Judah", and "All The Midnights In The World" sounds like a demo. "Chelsea Rodgers" is just a great dance number. "Resolution" - eh. It's okay, but I think if you were to get rid of "Lion", Midnights" and "Resolution", and replace them with a couple of songs from 3121, it'd be a perfect Prince CD. PE could have been more successful but the midget keeps recording videos and not releasing them and really promoting them. Too bad. I still love the album as the best of 00's.

I always thought the AIDS reference in "Dear Mr. Man" was a clever play on words. After all, aid by definition is assistance. biggrin

Since the subject came up, I absolutely love The Rainbow Children. Conversely, I think that Planet Earth is probably Prince's weakest 2000-era retail release.

I can see why TRC would be a love or hate, but I never got the stigma attached to Planet Earth. It's a very strong pop/radio friendly album, a variety of songs, with just a couple of stinkers.

I kind of felt like Musicology is rancid (I've only listened to it like 3 times, the most recent being a month ago, and before that was when it was released.) 3121 was a vast improvement, but I still felt like there was at least one more album before it got GOOD. Planet Earth was that album for me.

No,no, it's the worst album he released in the 00's and ever!

seriously; it's a sloppy project, no cohesion in the album, a lot of really really weak songs and only 2 above average songs. I do not think Prince took this album very seriously either. For instance during the London 02 giggs he did not play anything from Planet Earth while it was his new release just then, it had nothing to do that the audience wouldnt be familiar for he did play a lot of 3121. It is really the most dissapointing release of Prince to date.

Seriously, that's wrong. wink

As far as never playing PE material at the 02 shows that's wrong. He played "Planet Earth" as the opening number one night. He also played "Guitar" a few times as well. The audience was British and most of them had a FREE copy of Planet Earth, so yeah, they knew the songs. It's by far the strongest CD, 3121 being the 2nd.

nope. but he liked them enough to take them from sandra st victor,
without paying her, in true prince style, roflmao.

perhaps he re-wrote some lines, although i remember hearing sandra's
version at some point and it was pretty close to prince's reworking.

Do people actual eat starfish?
Was that hot coffee in a thermos or Iceed Mocha Coffee?
Was the Butterscotch Clouds actual Pancakes?
Defacing public property was OK back then?
WHAT am I to understand if I let my mind go free?

Still Love this song. smile
