Amen to that. You'd probably appreciate it a lot more than them too. nod
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

the first time i saw Prince live was in 1997 and i had so much expectation. while it was a blast, i left feeling a bit bored and knowing the material so well i almost knew what songs he was going play next.
when i saw him the second time, in 2002, i was floored! to this day it still is my favourite show. then i saw him again about 4 days later and it was also awesome but it wasn't as great as the previous one.
then i saw him twice in 2004 and again, it was amazing. the first show was better than the second.
cut to last year in NYC and it was great to see him in such a small venue and there moments of brilliance and then there were moments of me going,"ok Prince enough with the soul covers, get on with it."

I guess what i'm saying is that you can expect total brilliance but sometimes he'll do something that makes you go "hmmm...."

so ya, i hope you have fun if and when you see him live.

you won't believe it once its happened and you will be sad its over.

other than that:

eery but sexy song openings
cool set design
fantastic outfits with numerous changes
most awesome live music and guitar playing
lots of lights flashing till ur almost blind
depending on where you sit either a really good or crappy view
Prince front and center at which point you enter a trance
lots of laughter cuz he is funny

your concert going experience is incomplete until you see Prince live. i saw him during the Purple Rain tour when he sold out Joe Louis Arena 7 nights in a row, hooked ever since. The Lovesexy Tour "in the round" at the Joe also was INSANE. he opened with Erotic City in his "daddy's Cadillac" (from alphabet street). stuff of legend!

Hi. He's often not as secretive about the aftershows anymore and they are usually advertised. Otherwise you will always get the leads from the org. We just seem to know lol

I got all the aftershow info here when he did 3121 in Vegas nod

Haha, so basically just stick around here for the whereabouts. Thanks !

i've never been to a Prince concert either cos he never comes around Singapore.
not that i think he will cos there's probably only enough fans of him here to count on one hand.

It's great if you've been waiting for a while, on my part i became a fan in 2004 just after Musicology (although not influenced by it in becomming one)...but by being based in the UK that inevitably meant having to wait, just over 3 years before the big opportunity came and I will never forget the day I had about 5 texts from different lots of people whilst in work with "PRINCE IS COMING TO THE UK TO THE o2!!!!", going home and seeing the press conference and the buzz being all too much...

As for the concert(s) themselves I got to see 2 main shows and aftershows and still go on to people about them today just HOW good they were in that between 4 sets i gained about 7 to 8 hours of being in the mans presence...

the first time, having the o2 layed out with Prince posters everywhere (especially upon arriving at the train station and having mini posters go all the way up the side of the escalator was just immense!!!), then hearing Kiss play all over the arena and meeting fans who had been to previous tours like LOVESEXY AND ONE NITE ALONE (FUCKERS!!)

Other great moments included:

Hearing 3121 open the August 11th show (which at the time was never stopped playing on my ipod)

Seeing Prince appear behind the curtain whilst Beverly Knight was opening the aftershow and my mate pointint him out! eek waaaaa!!!!!

Hearing "Don't worry, I won't hurt you on my second show (Knowing the song that got me into Prince was back for the first time in nealry a decade)

Seeing Prince appear in the V.I.P area over everybody teasing us by pretending to throw his red hat into the crowd at the aftershow (2nd spet am)

Some really treasured moments I hold from these wink

don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but my advice would be to take ear plugs. Prince's concerts are way too loud.

My favorite thing, of course besides being in prince's presence is, seeing the diversity of all the fans at the show..old, young, middle aged. Brought tears to my eyes. cloud9
