Didn't Prince mention speaking to Dick Gregory recently. I read his autobiography a couple of years ago and it certainly was an eye opener hearing about this black stand-up comedian's experiences during the 1950s and 1960s - and his close involvement in and support of the civil rights movement.

Being from the UK I hadn't really heard of him before. As an 70s/80s UK child you kind of assume superstar mainstream black comedic success started/evolved from Richard Pryor & Bill Cosby, to Eddie Murphy and then Chris Rock etc.

Anyhoo I'd recommend Dick Gregory's book to anyone. Controversially (I guess) it's called the N-word.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.
