Morris Hayes pretended to play harmonica on a few TV appearances. It was a sample. Those were sad days for Prince's live performances.

Those were the most boring performances of his whole career. Baby Knows, The Greatest Romance.....all of the Rave stuff he did on TV was either lipsynched or very boring and uninspired. And the tv shows where he performed, at least over here, were some of the cheesiest shows possible.
Really uninspired times in Prince history.

IIRC, Sheryl Crow played the harmonica on the record, she did it in one take, according to Prince, and Sheryl. But live, it was a sample, and Morris mimicked it.

The UK (BBC?) tv performance was not good,

I wonder why he chose to perform Baby Knows, it was a bad song and it wasn't even a single.

"Baby Knows" and "So Far, So Pleased", should have both been singles. Clive Davis was right in trying to fight Prince on releasing "TGRES" as a lead single. It really made the album bomb. Imagine if SOTT had NO real recognition because of "If I Was Your Girlfriend" being a bum first single? It took "U Got The Look" to get the attention back on track. Even with the previous popularity of "Everyday Is A Winding Road", it would have been a great 2nd single.
