Sheesh. lol Freaky, the Jack Johnson reference, I believe may have been in regards to Jack's perseverance and strength, that he had to have to survive, that tumultuous and " extremely" racist time period, no matter how hard the fight was, Jack still got up. I guess that is what Prince means, when he compares himself to that, like all the criticism Prince faced through the years of his career, but still managed to keep focused and survived it, despite the negativity and harsh criticism he faced, which is pretty much what he's getting from some on this thread right now. I believe he didn't say that much about President Obama because JWs don't vote and probably didn't want to hear it from the Elders the next day, but although JWs supposedly don't get involve in politics, lot of what he talked about was in reference to politics on a few levels, but I he didn't disrespect President Obama at all. As far as Obama, he's not a messiah and can't force race relations to work in this country, that depends on the individual. I admire his obstinate desire to be the sand in the liberal vagina - ie, turning his head and scowling when Obama was mentioned - but his allusions (delusions?) of witnessing politicians in the UN live feed turning to Bible prophecy for guidance is complete and utter shite. I fear he may have been too close to the Winehouse's beehive that night - Prince's trippy perception here borders the barren lands of hope and delusion with sphagetti legs. The notion the US is moving AWAY from union between church and state is the OPPOSITE of any objective reality.
However, apart from this abberation at the end of the interview, I quite enjoyed it. Serene without being too pious. he looks great. Skinny, alien, otherworldly. Wig was tight. Shame he believes dinosaurs are alive in a rainforest somewhere - hybridised and cross-bred by whitey to trample ghettos in the middle of the night - but I'm sure I'm wrong about a lot of stuff too. Enjoyed it. I'm glad his conversation wasn't the usual gumph you get from celebs, he talked about things that interest him and people he admires. At least he didn't come off as self -centered in this interview. That aside, the bit about how he escaped his father's harshness and his epilepsy was good stuff. He came across as more human than I have ever seen him. Look forward to part two. He oozes charm, but we all knew that already.

Its entertainment as far as I'm concerned Prince could be dead wrong on all the issues. He in not a politician, rocket scientist..etc. He made some great songs. i also did not get the comment about religion, to anyone looking from outside into the US, The US seems the most religious place in the world. They tried to ban Richard Dawkins in Oklahoma. Also, what was prince referring to regarding not being told about presidents before George Washington. He discussed one of the lines of the lyrics in "Dreamer", the line that states "I was born on the plantation of the red, white & blue" . He states that line referencing citizens of this country are indentured servants in America's system, which in my opinion isn't too far from the truth at all. I have to say I was surprised at how he opened up about the issues he discussed with Tavis.
Now what Prince should do is have a future followup interview with Tavis, posted on his site for fans to watch. As even 1 hour was not enough time for Prince to go "more in depth" on some of the issues discussed. For example, I'd like to hear more about his opinions and knowledge of "chemtrails" and his concerns about black community issues as a whole, and some of the issues discussed during the SOBU conferences, as Prince made a statement during last night's interview that he shows a tape of the SOBU conference to friends and especially white folks because "they need to know about us" and I referenced that statement to him meaning educating them about social issues/culture(s) within the black community as a whole. After that statement I don't think anyone has to question how Prince "identifies" himself. With that being said it was a pretty good interview. I look forward to part 2 tonight.
