Ok! bring on the eye rolling, huffing and puffing, Larry Graham hate!

although, personally, I feel its cool to see the links between truely "old school" artists and Prince. It shows where his aspirations were/are and his respect. Its not magic its music, he learned his craft from some of the greats!!

Here's the deal on Graham. His name has become synonymous with Prince editing himself. It's not even that Prince became some Jehovah's Witness. He was Seventh Day Adventist before (raised that way at least), and mentioned God numerous times in music, often equating God and the elation of sex as one. No one was complaining when Graham was doing a CD with Chaka and Prince in 1998. No one complained about them all being on VIBE together, or even talking about stauros on VIBE. It's when "The Cross" became "The Christ" that people hated Graham. It's when, halfway through the 2001 season of NPGMC, those old Parade shows would play on the Ahdio shows and things like "P-U-S-S-Y" in "New Position" was suddenly reversed. It's when he had someone read a preamble before the song "Horny Pony", denouncing its sexual content. THAT is when Graham's influence on Prince took hold and fans hated him.

However, Graham as a musician, and as a trend setter in music, bass playing, and song writing cannot be denied. If anyone goes back to listen to the Release Yourself album, or the Ain't No Bout A Doubt It album, that's some righteous shit on there! Ask ya mama's about "One In A Million". Then go back and listen to Sly records. Ask Janet, Jimmy, and Terry about "Thank You", and how "Rhythm Nation" came about. If you can disconnect what Graham did with/to/for/in Prince with what he did with/to/for/in music, the appreciation can be there.

No, I don't want to hear Prince sing "Alright" with Graham again. He did that. If I want to hear "Alright", I'll go listen to the GCS album. If I wanna hear "I Wanna Take You Higher", I'll go grab that Sly album. If I wanna hear Prince say fuck, well....I'ma pull out my 1999 album, and blast it.

Okay! I will tell the story again. I was front and center at some show and Larry was killing his bass guitar and I was looking up in awe and I heard Prince say "Touch it!" I looked at him confused, and he looked at me and repeated himself, "Touch it!" So I touched Larry Graham's bass, while he was slapping it, because Prince told me to do it.

Do you really feel that strong about cursing and overt sexual lyrics. Is it soooo important to you to say F**k them. Rather then say Screw them. It's really truely deep down that important. So much so that your upset when someone elects not to curse anymore.

Does it offend you? Why is so important. erentsewell you even have a quote in your "signature" the express your desire for Prince to say curse words again. So clearly it's something you pride yourself on, that's you wear it as a badge. Something to say, you feels it's important for people to curse, and if not they're are doing something wrong. Something that you must publicly acknowledge in what appears a protest against not cursing.

Is really that important. Does it keep you up night?

Please spell my name right Thanks. I agreed with the post in regards to where the Larry issues came from for most people. I have no issue with Larry Graham.Obviously people enter peoples lives for a reason. This being the factor for Prince. Don't put my name in anything or group me amongst others unless I POST these things per say. Cursing is neither here nor there for me with Prince's lyrics, I can listen to all of his music with full enjoyment pre-post cursing days. Do I feel Larry's presence affected Prince in prior projects.Absolutely,Cursing is not the factor when it comes to holding back creatively/Musically...I respect where Prince is in his life now and being one who sees him live VERY often no one is shouting out the lyrics with the original profanities lyrics during a performance.I was raised up not DRAGGED up and carry myself like a lady should Cursing has a time and place as everything in life should.

and no it doesn't keep me up at night my insomnia has nothing to do with if a man will say Fu*k or not.

Sorry Prince but you were off by 6.
There were 14 Pre-Constitution presidents and that entire interview was a bore.

Dead Pre-Washington "Presidents:"
1. Peyton Randolph: September – October 1774, May 10-24 1775
2. Henry Middleton: October 22-26 1774
3. John Hancock: May 24th, 1775 – November 1, 1777, November 23 1785 – May 29 1786 (that's right, the same John Hancock whose signature may be the most famous of all time, though during this last term as President, Hancock never even showed up, due to illness; he was somewhat of a “President in Name Only”)

4. Henry Laurens: November 1 1777 – December 10, 1778
5. John Jay: December 10 1778 – September 28 1779 (This is the same John Jay who later became the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court)
6. Samuel Huntington: September 28 1779 – July 10 1781
7. Thomas McKean: July 10 1781 – November 5 1781
8. John Hanson: November 5 1781 – November 4 1982
9. Elias Boudinot: November 4 1782 – November 3 1783
10. Thomas Mifflin: November 3 1783 – November 30 1784
11. Richard Henry Lee: November 30 1784 – November 23 1785
12. Nathaniel Gorham: June 6 1786 – February 2 1787
13. Arthur St. Clair: February 2 1787 – January 22 1788
14. Cyrus Griffin: January 22 1788 – March 2 1788

cool Tavis is a friend of his. You know he was not going to ask him anything without his consent that he would'nt answer. The two probably sat down & rehearsed what they were going to say to each other. Prince did at times look a little uncomfortable, but i do think he knew Tavis was not going to drill him on anything they did not go through before. Overall the interview was not bad at all. cool

True.

But "Dreamer," live at Leno, should be on the next Rock Band. hmph!

I look at it this way, "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" are just fun games to play period, no more no less. Honestly I don't think there's anything wrong with a person playing it. If you saw the same kids doing extremely well at a car racing game and you asked them, "Do you actually have a drivers license?" would you roll your eyes if he said no? Pro Football players get together with team mates houses to play Madden.

Yes, I'd be fooling myself if I said I play a guitar, a guitar that's a plastic game controller; however, I do play piano and that doesn't take away the fact I also enjoy playing "Guitar Hero" too. If I have a get together at the home, I'm not going to set a real trumpet, drums, keyboard and bass guitar in my living room for my friends and just say, "Start playing and lets jam."

Heck if Prince gave permission to have his music on "Guitar Hero" he'll expose music to kids (and adults) to songs they've never heard of and it quite possibly make them want to learn a real instrument in the future.

Bria told Tavis that in confidence during the video break. You could tell she was embarrassed when he spilled the beans. I'm glad Tavis did mention it. It was very telling as to her real thoughts on the CD. I would have loved to hear the conversation between the two (or lack thereof) on the drive home. lol
