Prince & Ice Cube

So we know Ice Cube directed the Love Sign video (right?). What was the extent of their musical relationship - is it known? All I know comes from one song on an ice cube track. He raps about how "I got my ass in Minnesota..." and "got a house next to prince, so now I can kick it" -- which was sampled by Prince in the Big City remix of Good Life and in some song on Emancipation.

Anyone have the scoop?

Yep he directed the LoveSign video and I remember Ice Cube saying at the time something about the bad boy of today hooking up with the rude boy from the 80s or something like that for the video

I'd like to know more about there relationship too

the lyrics of that ice cube song are referring to a coke dealer who makes a lot of money and moves into the expensive neighborhood where prince lives. iirc, that portion of the song is supposed to take place in the '80s.

i believe the ice cube black sweat track is a dj mix.

Yes, Ice Cube was at the Nokia Theatre show sitting behind me to the left in the seventh row.

Cube has always been my favorite rapper and Prince has always been my favorite musician. When I heard they collaborated to make the Love Sign video I was pleased yet not surprised. They were working with a legends (Marvin Gayes) daughter. Of course it was something worthwhile that they would want to work on together.

When Ice Cube toured Australia in 2006, he gave his CD away with the tickets. Just like Prince did with "Musicology." I didn't see him, but I remember reading an article about it....either that or it said it on the website of the Theatre that he was playing at. I don't recall which one it was.
