TMZ: Prince Accused of Royally Screwing Book People From TMZ:
The artist known as Prince will also be known as defendant -- accused of some seriously cutthroat business tactics in a book deal gone sour. According to a lawsuit filed yesterday in L.A. County Superior Court, a literary agency claims Prince chose them as their "exclusive agent with respect to the negotiations of a publishing deal" for a book called "21 Nights" and a special limited edition version. In the documents, the agency claims in the final stages of the deal, Prince stopped calling them back -- and then went behind their back to finish the negotiations -- thus screwing the company out of it's 15% commission. The agency is now suing for it's 15% -- about $200,000. Practically chump change for the Purple One. http://www.tmz.com/2009/0...ok-people/

So he went in 2 close the deal himself.
Maybe he felt they couldn't? No big deal really. "He's a musician's musician..."

Whenever big business is happening, there R oftentimes legal challenges, lawsuits, etc. It happens all the time in the entertainment world... This just leaked, as many do these days of the bored and ill-qualified media. As many as they report, there many times more than that happening regularly.
He closed the deal. They'll probably get their cut. [Edited 4/22/09 12:17pm] "He's a musician's musician..."

The man can make millions and has done these last few weeks, yet will screw folks over for a couple of hundred grand, if i or you were in this publishers employ, you'd be pissed.
Why is he such a greedy selfish ass? he appears to be. Damn sad. Where is the humanitarian Prince that used to do food drives at his concerts? where'd he go?

Especially since he probably purposely seeks out smaller outfits who are 1 - Hungry for the opportunity to work with him 2 - Not as able to use monetary leverage to fight him. This is why some long timers have zero respect for him. He'll shut down the websites for having picture appreciation threads and demand money for such threads but turn around and screw someone royally. How can anyone respect this? I sure can't. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I still think about his goon snatching that camera off a kid in an airport somewhere, he really is the vainest, saddest and greediest man around. "keep the lights off!"

He's no different to any 'Fat Cats on Wall St' he has the temerity to sing about on 'Old Skool Company'. I could screw everyone in the ass for less than $77 dollars and i'd guarantee it'd be a better experience than Lotu$flow£r.com so far!

Back in the 90s it was reported that the people that were making his "pimp" canes didn't get paid, and also a company that was doing video work from him hadn't got paid either. I think the company was called Point Of View. I think they were both Minneapolis based companies. So long ago it's hard to remember. LOL TRUE BLUE

Which begs the question: Who doesn't yet know that Prince is unethical when it comes to business practices? The trail of businesses being ripped off is far and wide. Randee St Nicholas & all the lackeys are not going to say it, but the local businesses got ripped off, clubs got ripped off etc 1800 New Funk was akin to a quasi mailorder con man operation. Remember the lucite canes he ordered customized from a business in MPLS? He didn't pay them either. This is why I dont have respect for the dude. You can't even have a discussion nor can these past businesses contact him. Thank god for the internet, alot of businesses know how unethical he is regarding business and services.
