Prince's next studio release: What's it gonna sound like? At this point everyone is excited about the ONA Live CD that's coming our way pretty soon (at least, that's what we expect). But let's take a leap into the future and wonder what his next studio release will be like.
Will it be in the vein of TRC, organic sounding stuff, or will that bore him already and will he do an album filled with raw electronic funk? What do YOU think (or hope)??? RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

So stanky that your nose shrivels to the point that it looks like Michael Jacksons! [This message was edited Thu Nov 21 14:52:03 PST 2002 by SupaFunkyOrgangrinderSexy] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I'm hoping for a return to his r&b roots. Songs like 'It's about that walk', 'I wanna be your lover', 'Five women', 'The ride' etc.
I like his jazz groove, his funky tunes, but the r&b tunes hit me the hardest.

It's about that walk" is one of my favorite Prince tunes, misterchristan. I wouldn't mind more of stuff like that either!
But what I would really like is an electronic funk album, with fat electronic beats, fat synthesizers, lot's of funky rhythm guitar and Camille-style vocals. Let's say a return to the old Minneapolis Funk, but with modern production. Mmmm, that would be a dream come true! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Well if its anything like Rainbow Children then I will be very disappointed...

'IATWalk' is one of my fave too. Nothing against TRC, but i listen to the Vault much more than TRC, especially 'When the lights go down'-great extended jam i didn't take to when i first bought the album. And 'Five women'...well, it speaks for itself. But what I would really like is an electronic funk album, with fat electronic beats, fat synthesizers, lot's of funky rhythm guitar and Camille-style vocals. No one will ever know, because I think after this membership ends, no one will ever buy his albums again.

I think he should start an "all-star-band" with d'angelo, maxwell, roots, badu and jill scott. That album would be a logical progression from TRC.

Prince, 1978-1988, R.I.P. Wannabe Teddy Riley? How does TRC, for example, sound like Teddy Riley. He couldn't touch Prince. TRC is more akin to Sly And The Family Stone, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder D'Angelo and other funk/soul/jazz inflected artists.

Fucking hell, sometimes I wonder about orgers. TRC is musically one of Prince's strongest albums ever. This band is fucking brilliant. I can't understand how u can't appreciate that.
Oh wait, I can. I think a look at some of your CD collections would tell the story.
