Was Tamar's album released in limited edition in Japan? http://www.princeinfo.net...TAMAR.html
The UK release is listed as a "promo" & not the japanese one. Besides all these copies on ebay have this catalogue number.

I did see the Japanese Milk And Honey(sealed and with obi) go for about $600+ on eBay shortly after it was withdrawn. So, at least one got out.

It could be a case of the Japanese retailers receiving the stock and putting it on their shelves a few days before the official release date - and hence illegally selling copies before it was pulled. Lots of stores do this sneakily in order to alienate their competition - happens in many retail sectors, not only music. So whether or not you consider that an "official release" is a matter of opinion. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

In answer to the original question...
No, Tamar's album was never released in Japan (or anywhere else). However, it did get to the pressing stage, so there are some genuine copies out there that were intended for distribution, but were never sent out. Some of these 'escaped' (much like the original 1987 Black Album did).

god that cover is HIDEOUS! why is she trying to make her best beaver face? and that the imagery so bluntly and almost crassly represents the title...could it not have been just a LITTLE more creative?

it used to be all over the internet. not sure if it's still easy to locate

I thought he would've found a way to get this album released. I saw them both perform in Mpls and she has a great voice and surprisingly good stage presence for a fairly new artist.

Come on, Tamar is a really pretty young lady. I like the idea/homage/ripoff of The Ohio Players covers, but the image fails because the shit on her hands looks rank and not sexy at all, especially the dried "milk", the other one looks icky and uncomfortable.

He did a really good version of "redhead" the Indigo aftershows. The CD was much better than Brian's IMHO.

Yeah, I thought the Milk & Honey album cover was pretty dire. I much preferred the cover when it was still called Beautiful, Loved & Blessed.

Lets get a little perspective here..
Possibly the worst unintentional 80's pastiche cover of all time..IMHO [Edited 4/20/09 14:23pm] "My God it's full of Stars"

Can someone articulate why the Tamar CD was never released? I had heard some rumblings that she ran her mouth about using Prince for a record deal...but I could be 100$ wrong.
Thoughts? | |
