Yea that one is much better. Still not his best, but MPLS sound is not up to Prince's standards. Its like his in his own world and doesn't know when he records a good track anymore. ______________________________________________

Even three weeks of that dreck is nothing short of a Herculean effort. One of the blandest, most desperate records he's ever made. When all else fails, speed up your voice and add in the Linn, it's sure to get the Pavlovian reaction you're shooting for. There's a circle in hell where There'll Never Be Another is on repeat. No hard feelings.

LotusFlower is far superior IMO. MPLS got alot of driving time play to see if it would grow on me, but sadly, not so much. "Here" is a great track though.
"Hay Valentina tell you momma she should throw this cd down the hall..."

You survived 3 whole weeks? I'm calling the Pope you deserve to be canonized.

Boo-hoo. MPLSound is awesome! [Edited 4/14/09 20:04pm] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I've not listened to Lotus about 3 times, and MPLSound a bit more. I've listened to Bria a lot the first two weeks, but now, not so much. There's still a handful of songs I enjoy, but to sit and listen to either disk all the way through, I've lost a lot of interest.

Prince is tired of the albums himself and stopped promoting them. On 2 the next album... "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

Ooh, you did better than me. It is difficult trying to force yourself to like something, especially when it's an album by Prince who has such a rich heritage.
I'm sure there are those that really get it but for me it just doesn't work. I haven't played Lotus in a week or so either. I think it's a case of "I've had so many hits!" as opposed to "I have so many hits!" It's when you play the new material and then put on an old album. It's actually upsetting how far apart they are. But not to be unexpected really as he is getting on now and it happens to the best of them. The fire and desire seems to fade.

I think I'm saying that nothing I have heard in the last x number of years has moved me the same way that the music did when I first became a fan. It, Computer Blue, All the Critics, Darling Nikki, Peach, New Position, Erotic City, Strange Relationship, Cream, The Future, Le Grind, Lady Cab Driver, 1999, Willing & Able, The Ladder, Lovesexy, Sexy MF, Girls & Boys, DMSR, When Doves Cry, Let's Pretend We're Married, Purple Rain, Controversy. They're all gone. And so has the man that made them in my eyes. But when Prince is on that stage... well that's another matter altogether. Pure euphoria.

After 2 listens i took Old Skool Company, Dance 4 Me and Valentina and added them to a few of the best tracks on Lotusflow3r because I did not want to get dissapointed. I had a feeling it was gonna be Emancipation all over again, but was actually kinda surprised that the best tracks are some of the best music I have heard him do in a long while.

still sticky with this..... Bit late to the review party but just got the new CD this weekend in the UK... Ok played the songs i've already heard and like first so now for a real review playing the album as a whole....out of 5 ***** stars The Best Tracks on MPLSOUND for me are..... Chocolate Box ... really like it now *** (it grows on you not bad) Dance 4 ME ....A Classic Prince Track of the Future ***** (This should be a 10 out of 5 its so good) U're gonna C Me ...very cool in the wrong place on the CD but good **** Valentina ...funny / cool (lyrics are poor but it's fun ) *** Here....stars * (worst track on the CD just have to skip it - should have put Turn Me Loose on here) Ol Skool Company ...like it good groove gets a **** (Could have been faster like the live version on Leno) No More Candy 4 U .....funny lyrics...but poor track for a Album...(Prince should have put F.U.N.K on here then it would make the CD a true hit) ** There'll Never be ALM ....poor lyrics ...ok music ... ** Better With Time ....very good track ...music cool ...nice lyrics.. *** Not bad P ...like it but get Turn me loose and FUNK on this Album and it would be a near classic for sure Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..
James Brown & Michael Jackson RIP, your music still lives with us!

Well, I'm sorry for the lot of you cause it is jamming in my cd player right now. I don't understand how some of you so called fans don't like this cd??? Like what do you want music to do for you other than make you dance? It isn't going to cure cancer nor is it going to make your money earn any extra dividends. So just what to do you want it to do for you. I love this one and I stand by what Prince has put out into the world a funky new set of songs that moves my feet.

thanks for the information.... MPLSoUND is a slamming cd, finally up to date and you haters are simply just old! I can finally shelve the dated old MPLSoUND and celebrate the new MPLSoUND! More power to it and i hope it continues. This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream

I was not digging this album at first, but like all of his records, it unveils itself slowly. Prince does not hit you over the head with hooks and never has - it takes time.
Ol Skool - Been officially placed in the all time greatest Prince playlist Never Be Another - Like PFUNK the first 1/4 of the song does not really grab me but it just gets better and better from there. Dance 4 Me - Definitely a grower Here - Great pop tune Chocolate Box - this took some time but I no longer skip it All in all I am really satisfied with this album and am loving Lotusflow3r. Like the Rainbow children these albums will just get better with time.

But the purpose of this new CD is that it is SUPPOSED to sound like the old- school MPLS sound! But it's a pale shadow, it's not terrible and i rather enjoy it for what it is, but there is no 'Erotic City', '777-9311' or 'DMSR' to be heard. or nothing that really comes close. It's not hating, it's being realistic.

Amen to that! I'll be completely honest, Housequake came on my iPod this morning as I was on my way to work and about halfway through, I turned it off and listened to something else. I had just finished listening to MPLSound earlier and I just loved hearing it again so I think I was hyped up from that. I will always love Housequake the song but right now, I'm not trying to listen to "80's Prince", these new CDs are hitting me where I want them to hit me and it feels GREAT! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

He wrote most of those song when he was in his 20's. It's just not realistic to think someone in their 50's will write like they did in their 20's. Believe me, I am 50 and I have tried. It's just not doable to any real extent. But I will say this - Prince got pretty darn close with "No More Candy 4 U".
