The original Tick, Tick, Bang from the 1980 Dirty Minds sessions. I kept wondering where I heard the synth part before, so after racking my Prince files in my brain, I figured it out. So does this mean that Prince went into the vault and this is actually a 1979/80 track updated or did he happen to go back and say, "I could use this?" For those who have the original Tick, Tick, Bang boot, go back and give it a listen. You'll be pleasently surprised as I was.

I agree, it has a bit more of the "Can't Stop" vibe, but it's still just the overall feel of the song. Hell, you can even compare it to things like "Horny Toad", "No Call U", etc etc.

Let's not forget that instrumental he released on NPGMC and had fans put their own lyrics to it. That was straight outta 1980/1981 for sure.

I think this is an interesting track. There are moments that don't really work for me.. but it is interesting.

Great thread - and it was nice to revisit that song again!

I've heard a lot of people talk about the "Vault," as if it is a place seperate from Prince's soul. Familiarities are going to be found...as they are one artist. I love both of those songs. "No More Candy 4 U," is a riot.

The similarity to me is just the ascending synth riff after the chorus for each song. He does the same riff (although on piano) in the song Vibrator as well.

Totally,when I heard this song it had the NEW Wave SYNTH sound from CONTROVERSY and I had the image of DR FINK on the organ.

Funny but I was thinking about this today as well, what if prince delved into the vault for these songs, I listen to them and think that would go so well with a lot of stuff released way back then, (Talking about MPLSOUND here)
A lot of these tracks played with lets say the Camille tracks would fit so perfectly.
