Any audio engineers in the house. Why does this album (and 3121 and Musicology, less so for lotusflower) make my ears bleed? Why is the bass so distorted? why are the voices all muddled? Why there is so little separation?

I thought maybe its my earphones or my Ipod but why do I put on tracks by, for example, TV on the Radio or Duffy and everything sounds fine. Bass nice an clear, nice high tones and clear vocals?
