Your Perfect CD of Unreleased Songs

hello fam,

If Prince were to release an album of 11-13 tracks, of songs previously unreleased that you have heard what would you put on that cd to make it a classic?

Thought it would be interesting to hear your thoughts...

It'd be a quadruple album if I had my way, however 13 tracks from the top of my head...

In A Large Room With No Light
Old Friends 4 Sale
Heart Of Stone
All My Dreams
I Wonder
Love, Thy Will Be Done (Prince vocal)
Moonbeam Levels
Cross The Line
I Can't Love U Anymore
Everybody Want What They Don't Got
Baby, You're A Trip
Heaven
Neon Telephone

Nothing really out of the ordinary and certainly not in this sequence. I think most folk would chose something like this, unless they're really reaching to stand out from the herd. There's literally hundreds more outakes I enjoy, but this would make a pretty remarkable record (if completely disjointed stylistically).

Rebirth Of The Flesh
Extraloveable
Wonderful Day
No Call U
Turn It Up
Witness 4 The Prosecution (1987 & 1986 versions)
Electric Intercourse
Wonderful A..
Get Blue (i dont care if Louie did it; P does it good)
The Voice Inside
All My Dreams

There are so many more that I would include liek Adonis, In A Large Room and Big House but those are probably the ones I think would have the best appeal for an album...I'd love if P did some hard rock in the middle of The Voice Inside...its such a loud bodacious track worthy of releasing.

The rules for Prince.org maybe but Prince has sued his fans just for having pages of his official lyrics on their personal web pages exclaim never underestimate the psychosis in that man's brain disbelief

I'm sure we'll see them released at some point but we may be old men and women when that time comes.

It's an Emancipation outtake, (great) lyrics by Sandra St Victor. To my ears, it sounded 86-era. I was pretty surprised when i learned it was from '96. It was insane not to include this on the actual record when Mr Happy and Courtin' Time got a pass.

apart from replacing The Devine with Open Book (suprisingly no-one has mentioned this!) and The Sex of It with I Wonder (Same) a perfect track-list....

That's a ridiculous assumption. As you note, there are hundreds of outtakes. Obviously, everyone's list is going to be different.

Romeoblu

I would want it to stick pretty much to one era or at least songs from different era's that would work together and I would also like it to contain mainly tracks I had never heard or not heard in full or great sound quality.

Something like this would be nice.

It's A Wonderful Day
Teacher, Teacher
In a Large Room With No Light
Adonis And Batsheeba
Call of The Wild
Everybody Want What They Don't Got
Come Electra Tuesday
Empty Room
Cosmic Day
Evolsidog
Walkin' Glory
Witness 4 The Prosecution
Heaven
All My Dreams

Or Maybe

Our Destiny
Roadhouse Garden
Traffic Jam
Electric Intercourse
Love And Sex
Wonderful Ass
Possessed
Extraloveable
Purple Music
The Dance Electric

Or

The Voice Inside
If I Had A Harem
You're Love is So Hard
Good Man
Big House
Me Touch Myself
God is Alive
The Rock That Keeps Roliing
An American In Paris
The Grand Progression
Big Tall Wall
Stimulation
Moonbeam Levels

Actually a lot of these songs are 'clean'

I think the excess use of swear words came in in the early to mid 90's

there were tons of songs recorded for the Purple Rain albums/movie, about 5-10 songs considered for the Parade album, over 20 songs for the Dream Factory (that we know of) the Camille project(half made it to Sign o the Times/B-sides, the Roadhouse Garden (Prince & the Revolution) album that was being worked on during the Purple Rain sessions:SPLASH / Go are 2 songs recently heard, Roadhouse Garden was performed during his 83/84 Birthday show at 1st Ave and tons of material recorded from 1976-1983 for all album included.
