Livesexy 1988 (Apocalypse Sound)

Hey, does anyone know what the quality of the Livesexy 1988 is like? I think it is from the Dortmund show, is it multiple camera angles with good sound quality. Thanks for any info.

"Don't bother. Seriously, don't bother. There are 3 sources for this show circulating - the officially released VHS, the officially released Japanese laser disc, and the original broadcast itself. This particular release is taken from the latter and comes from the live broadcast on TV the night of the concert. The joy of the TV broadcast is it contains many different camera angles to the officially released versions (both VHS and laser disc), and it features the complete "Intermission / Cross The Line' interlude from the show which was edited out for both retail versions. All those are major positives, however the quality of both the audio and video on this particular release makes all that meaningless as this ranks amongst the worst version of this show circulating. The picture quality on the whole really isn't too bad for a VHS recording which is 20 years old, however Apocalypse Sound (excellent label name, btw) have attempted to correct the contrast and colour, and in doing so the colours are shockingly bright in places, pitch black in others, and the contrast and saturation throughout is pretty poor. Likewise, the audio is mismatched and jumps from being stereo to mono to crackling and back to stereo within the space of a few songs - really unimpressive, and one of those problems which pisses me off no end as it should have been corrected prior to people paying for the product - there are no shortage of excellent recordings out there which could have (and should have) been used. Because of these problems, it's really hard to say anything positive about this release, and anyone searching for a decent version of the original TV broadcast would be better looking for Fullasoul's 'Livesexy Uncut' as it suffers from none of these flaws. Plain and simple menu's, however not all tracks are chaptered correctly and one chapter point can contain 2 or 3 songs. Not great."
