Prince should've given the Elixer material to say...Chante Moore Ok, i know half of you on the org. probably don't know who Chante is, but she's a mature songstress who the industry doesn't know what to do with anymore (there are lots of those who can't find work in the "Beyonce era" but...). She could have given the Elixer songs some life.
Perhaps P likes to take pride in either "discovering" artists or taking vets like Chaka and Mavis and reminding the masses of their skills. I don't know but the songs have potential, Bria just wasn't the right choice i don't think.

Personally i think Bria Valente did a great job, Chante Moore seems a little Janet Jackson to me,(old hat)
just what she could have brought to the mix escapes me... still just my

Yeah she's real 'Old hat', I don't know why you would think we dont' know who she is. She's NOT all that. More like a Beyonce' wannabe. [Edited 4/13/09 13:27pm]

another Prince fan said the same thing to me... Chante Moore
I'm not familiar with her but this person was strong in their opinion that she sounded a lot like her Musically though I think the disc doesn't sound like anything Prince has ever done before. It doesn't sound like a Prince album which I think is great Dance... Let me see you dance

wow, the fact that a couple people are comparing Chante Moore to Beyonce or Janet is hilarious to me and confirms that many don't know who she is. calling her "old hat" is one thing (and i imagine they mean that age wise) but to compare her to two pop divas when she only had one top 10 "pop" hit herself (Now That Love's Taken Over) is mind boggling. she's more smooth jazz, adult r&b. she's had more success on these charts and recently did an album with her husband Kenny Lattimore.
Perhaps those who compare her to Janet or Beyonce thought i meant Christina Milian (same initials; i'm really grasping to see how that comparison was drawn) I think she's just more seasoned in her vocal styling and delivery. Her voice is sultry but mature sounding. It would have been an unlikely pairing to say the least, but i hate the Elixer material will go largely unnoticed. Chante's name/fan base and inroads with smooth jazz outlets would've gotten some of the tracks some airplay [Edited 4/13/09 14:49pm]

Nope, Chante old hat....wow, try ol skool:) The girl was hot and still is, never really got her play either, just like alot of Good Artist, because they decide to buy the same dam thing over and over again:) Ameril Laurex...(spelling?) is another that doesn't get deserved recognition..and she has been around since Groove Theory.

I have relistened to Brie and now am giving her credit. She great to listen to when you need to relax. Prince might just know what he's doing this time. Prince's Sarah

Amen. Chanté has more class than Beyonce could ever dream of having. • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Chante Moore is GREAT! She has more class and sophistication than Janet or Beyonce could ever have. She has a beautiful, angelic voice.Listen to "La La Means I Love You" on Emancipation...that's Chante singing background vocals.Prince is a huge fan of hers.

I like Chante Moore, but I would have picked Tamia before Chante. Milian is on a different level...
Bria did a wonderful job, and I'm very happy with the CD. Come on, give Bria a break [Edited 4/14/09 8:44am] Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize u simply imagined this So u lean over and give her a kiss Here on earth, here on earth, with u it's not so bad Here on earth, here on earth eye don't feel so sad Stay right here

You're right amorbella, Tamia could've worked as well. i'll take that suggestion to mean that you're at least understanding what i'm getting at, you also know who Chante is LOL. i didn't know she did background vocals on La La La Means I Love You (or i forgot). but great point. something is just NOT THERE with Bria for me.

he also made reference to her on "rippopgoesdazippa" ...
I also think that this Elixier album was made for Chante Moore... It had her vibe to it and I could actually hear her voice singing some of theses songs. Bria did a good job. I'm thinking that these songs are old and Chante may-have sung these songs in format but Prince couldn't use it so he made someone else sing them... Um... let me warm up my vocals
Me ME ME ME ME...U U U U U! | |
