Since 1978-I was a DJ in a Local Club.I belong to a record pool back in the day.The NEW YORK RECORD POOL.Which was a "BIG" deal back then.I would pay a flat rate and they would send me "NEW"music-some of the stuff was hot some was shit.Soft and Wet came in-People loved it.From that day on I became a HUGE fan.Been to many of the early showes back in the late 70's and early 80's.I also was at the FIRST AFTERSHOW ever!Prince was play on Worr.Mass 1985,after the show HE came in 2 the local hotel and ask the house band if HE could jam.Well the rest is History! It was short and sweet.
It has been a great "RIDE"I love every NOTE!

I'm only 23, and it's been six years now. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

1984, when I first heard the single of "When Doves Cry" on TV just after it was released.
1990 - today I've lapsed somewhat, and now remain a fan due to how good he was on vinyl back then, and for how good he remains onstage. The last of his albums I've truly loved was "The Black Album", back in '88.

RE: On Page 1, to GARYWOBBY!!!
I became a Fan Officially iN 1988 also. My first Prince Record was "LOVESEXY" which I bought with my allowance, I was about the age of 13 and went to Detroit Audio to Purchase any record LOL and of course I had already been familar with Prince's music, because my parents owned a few of his records and I saw Purple Rain at the Drive inn years prior. So when I decided on a RECORD, it was PRINCE's Lovesexy, sitting right on the shelf with Prince's naked behind, staring right back at me (BUY ME BUY ME) and moms was looking elsewhere and I told the Cashier...I WANT THAT ALBUM and he asked me, does your mother know your buying this record and I said YES!!! He sold it too me and I hid the albums cover in the bag until we got home and ran to my room and played the album for the first time and was completely blown away by the music and the lyrics especially. Anna Stesia - was the song that got me understanding more about who I was in terms of my sexuality...Prince definitelty gave me inspiration to be more open with who I am and also still have a strong connection to god. I wasn't even attracted to Prince lol, thou he is a beautiful guy, I just loved his music so much that it didn't matter if he naked on the cover or not!!! [Edited 4/12/09 13:56pm]

June 7th, 1983. The day I was born.
I was probably I fan before that day, because my brother (R.I.P) had a walkman with a Prince tape and he'd put the headphones on my mother's stomach. Apparently, I'd start to kick. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

Sometimes it feels like yesterday, because his music brings me back every time I hear it, and also because I'm a big kid at heart...
Ever since 1983 when I heard a friend play 1999, LRC, and Delirious when we hooped, and then after I saw Purple Rain. But really he's brought me back year after year ever since: SOTT, Lovesexy, D&Pearls, Emancipation, ONA, 3121, Fury on SNL, the Halftime, and countless live performances. The man is just brilliant.
