Was a casual fan in 1983.
By 1984, I was a die-hard fan and started seeking his back-albums.
By 1987 I discovered maxi-singles and bootlegs, and became semi-obsessive.

By 1999, he had released new power soul, and my fandom subsided substantially.

I'd describe myself as a lifelong fan with only a casual level of enthusiasm now, but with completist tendencies involving his recordings. lol

When I was in my momma's belly back in 83 and she was working for Emery Express and she walked into a building and saw him at the elevator with his big, burly bodyguards. I think she said she brushed right by him without realizing who the fuss was all about. That was the moment of truth right there lol Because she was (and still is) a fan and that moment genetically passed through to me. big grin

Kinda sorta like me (with some slight differences).

lol Yeah, I have him to thank for my lingerie fetish (the attraction to Latinas was always there...).

I went to see Purple Rain in the theaters with my mother. Awkward.
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Since 1996. I bought the Hits 1 & 2 and Chaos and Disorder at the same time. I'm pretty sure it was the start of the school year so I'm guessing it was in September, it was definitely before Emancipation was released. I loved Chaos and Disorder then and it is still one of my favourite Prince albums. It's funny, I've been a fairly hardcore Prince fan for about 12 1/2 years but with all of the 20+ year fans around here I still feel like a newbie.

since I saw PR when I was 16yrs old. Then heard ATWIAD, and immediately got to listening to his back catalogue. Blown away!

Been amazed ever since!

Those 80's b sides were the real hook recordings wise, and the live performancs have always been the saving grace ever since! biggrin
