Wasn't that the same excuse for Crystal BAll not being in the stand up case? Instead we got a pitri dish.

My Crystal Ball came in a jewell case, if that's what mean by stand up case, but i got no Karmasutra(not that bothered)

cool

There were 3 different versions of Crystal Ball:

1) 1-800-New Funk - 5-Disc Circular Clear Acrylic case without booklet, Lyrics available online (most who pre-ordered also received The War on cassette and a t-shirt)

2) Retail - 4-Disc Circular Clear Acrylic case with die-cut booklet and no Kamasutra

3) Retail - 4-Disc Double Thickness Jewel Case with die-cut booklet and no Kamasutra

Remember, he promoted Crystal Ball was going to be in a stand up case similar to the case on the website, but the manufacturing was going to be too expensive.

That clear pitri dish was hard as hell to keep nice. Not to mention it wasn't well designed to keep the discs scratch free.

Prince must have had to stop sinking money into the case. Noiseland said it took 16 weeks to make the molds. By the time it made it to Best Buy, it was $75.

Those cases do scratch easily. I've got all three versions and I keep the petri dishes in bubble wrap.

You would think that a flat bottomed, blow-molded orb would have been more fitting, and cheaper. Hell, they make them for hamsters to roll around in for about $4.

The SACD format (and DVD-A too) are really for audiophiles who want to feel superior. The human ear cannot usually tell the difference between SACD and Redbook CD (the current standard).

Most times, when you hear a great-sounding SACD (and, they DO sound great), what you're really hearing is better mastering.

Current Redbook CDs are horribly mastered, with more emphasis on the loudness wars than proper sound.

That's actually a regular DVD with the Te Amo Corazón video single, though I don't know if it's stereo or 5.1 Dolby.

I don't think it is. That DVD is so cheaply made.....not even a menu.

I totally remember Prince talking about the 5.1 Lovesexy. It was a teaser and he said something along the lines of "We've just finished mixing Lovesexy in 5.1 do you want it released" (paraphrasing of course). But I do remember him saying the mix was finished.

So where is the 5.1 Lovesexy?
And will he do a SACD or also a DVD-A?
And will it include a decent high definition stereo mix?

I guess we'll have to wait until the Lovesexy tapes return to Mr P.
2013 or so?

Oh, that's after 2012. Does it matter at all then?
