A Prince covers album

Prince has done some excellent cover version throughout his career. Some of my favourites include:

Just my imagination (what an awesome guitar solo)
One of us
Betcha by golly wow
Creep
Best of You
Crimson and Clover

Would anyone like to see a full covers album and what songs would you like to see included.

Karma Police by Radiohead and Supermassive Black Hole by Muse would be my pick biggrin

"Just my imagination" awesome version on 'Small Club' boot!!
"Motherless Child" is another song he rules...

here are some songs P covered:
"Come Together"
"Cold Sweat"
"Motherless Child"
"Proud Mary"
"Everyday People"
"A Case of You"
"Love Rollercoaster"
"Chain of Fools"
"Sing a Simple Song"

and I would like to see him cover:
Bowie "Fame"

I wouldn't mind it if Prince did a cover's album. These type of projects are usually regarded as end-of-career last gasps, though. So the occasional cover on a proper Prince release is OK. Many current artists relegate covers to b-sides and bonus tracks... a bit of fun throw out to fans as an insight to their influences.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I would've preferred it if Prince had put all his covers on one album,
rather than include them on his own albums.

I wouldn't want Prince to do a covers album. I like it better when he hits us with some new jams (or even jams from the vault, for that matter). I know I'm the minority here, but I don't like it when Prince does covers of other people's songs. The man is a genius, and does not need to be covering other people's songs. I would rather hear a new song thart he just wrote, or as I said at the beginning of my post, a previously unreleased song from the vault.

wouldn't mind him doing a website-only release of an "album" of covers, but i wouldn't really care for it to be a mainstream release.

Personally, I'd rather he didn't do covers at all.

But if he is gonna do them, I'd rather see them all collected together
on one covers album than taking up space on his regular albums.
(of course I know it's a bit late for that now though)

Cover albums seem like career killers. A few exceptions would be Lennox's "Medusa" and Duran Duran's "Thank You".

A few embarrassing ones would be GNRs "Spaghetti Incident" and Skid Row's "B-Side Ourselves".

I agree 2.Personally i think Prince is way 2 talented 2 have covers on his albums.I`d prefer original instrumentals or quirky experimental tracks instead if he needs 2 fill space on an album in a hurry!
IMO Betcha By Golly Wow was the most hideous song he ever recorded & having this as the lead single seriously impaired Emancipation sales!!

Hold On 2 Ur Wigs!!

I wish P would just release a cover tunes album - Maybe a 3 disc set like Emancipation? At least then P would quit playing most of those songs live LOL! lol

If you are referring to studio covers I agree completely, with the exception of "One Of Us", I have never thought much of them
