Dont know about that. I think Housequake is right up there on it. So it Erotic City, 1+1+1 is 3, and Come On.

LOL "Come On" is nowhere near anything like "DMSR". I'll give you "Erotic City". It's definitely up there, but "Housequake"....meh. It might have the #3 spot behind the other two.

"DMSR" and "Erotic City" are like a flood of dirty water. It seeps in everywhere and ya can't get rid of it. It does some DAMAGE! "Housequake" is more like getting a buzz cut with a #2 guard, and the guard slips off and nicks your head, and you have to go around with a buzz cut and a bald spot the size of your pinky finger for a week or two until the hair grows back. You were happy to have the cut, but the bald spot leaves ya wanting to do it over again, correctly.

"Come On" is like jerking off with a semi. You're in for the thrill, but it's just a quick drop and then you're done.

I'm not saying it's as good as D.M.S.R.! Never even thought about comparing the two tracks. I'm just saying it's in the same vein as D.M.S.R. with a touch of Parliament, that's all. I was merely talking about the kind of groove it was.

Geez.....

Again... Someone missing my point. Let me rephrase this so it's easier to understand what I mean.

I like the song, It has the same kind of groove as D.M.S.R with a hint of Parliament in the funk. It's not to be compared with D.M.S.R or any other Prince track, I just think it's the same kinda party as D.M.S.R., not just as good as or better than D.M.S.R.

Does that make more sense?

It really does kind of ramble on, doesn't it? I liked the Leno performance much more even though the live version also rambles it at least elicits some excitement.
My main issue with these Prince "back in tha day" songs is that they are not nearly as good as these "back in tha day" songs.

I think my favorite part of the whole song happens in the first guitar phrase in the chorus. That is SOOOOO 80s funky!!!!!

But, to be serious...I'd put it in the conversation with D.M.S.R. anyday!! I think folks are too busy trying to compare Prince past and present! Instead, we should be listening and judging his music as a whole without categorizing it in terms of time, you know? I mean, come on! the "1999" album was what...some 27 plus years ago!! Sounds change. Attitudes change. It's part of the natural evolution of us as human beings. I mean, do you dress now the same way you dressed in the 70's? Do you wear your hair the same? Of course you don't. Why would we expect anything different from Prince and his music?

"Ol Skool Company" is just as funky as anything he's ever done (IMO, of course)! I dig it a lot myself...

the thought that always pops into my head is, 'how would prince from '87 react to this music?'

maybe that's not fair.

quite a bit of stank! its funky, political, catchy, truthful, i love the part when he says, "now they (the songs) are just BLAND, like the drummer! it should get SOME spins SOMEWHERE. glad P. showed 'em he can still GO there when he wants to.
