Dylan Fans Giving Prince Props! Found this on a Dylan Newsgroup:
http://groups.google.com/...eed?hl=en# Just gave Prince's new dealybob a good listen and feel compelled to post my satisfaction. Man that cat can play! And at least one side out of three, lotusflow3r, is as good as anything I've heard from anyone in a long time and the other two, real bonus tablesetters. His production values are solid, songs well-composed and he seems to have lost his baby fat, those curly-q rolls around his libidinal expressions, in favor of the serious profile of a mature and thoughtful man of music. Without givin' up the funk. That said, I am a- wonderin' if Prin's ever covered any Bob Dylan material and, similarly, if Bob has ever done any of his fellow Minnesotan's songs proud. Any kind chance that there is an authoritative answer out there somewhere?

I'm a Dylan fan and share the thoughts. Dylan likes Prince too and played him frequent on his radio slot. I want Prince to do more Dylan esq songs, Colonized Mind was close. although, an all Blues album from Prince would make me and my lady the happiest. I think we should all support Dylan with his new album as we should truly treasure the time we have left with him whilst he's still creating. One of the last greats. I want Prince to do more Dylan esq songs, Colonized Mind was close. I've been admiring Dylan, too. They have something in common as a solo artist and I was often wondering how they're thinking each other. So, when Dylan picked "Little Red Corvette" for "Cars" theme during his radio program I was pleased, though, got disappointed a little because Prince was not in the selection for "Colors" nor "Weather." What else were selected? I also agree with the lyrical power of "Colonized Mind" and want him to keep it up more on lyrics and prove the diminished song collection after the conversion to Jehovah doesn't matter. I believe it will bring a new development not only for the album concept but also for the live stage. Words first. Although playing instruments relying on his instinctive skills might be easier and natural, Prince is an idea man before being a guitar man. By the way, I want him to reissue "The Cross" officially as "The Christ" or whatever.

Yes indeed. This gets mentioned in the thread on the Dylan board.

I think LotusFlow3r is as good a "Prince record" as Prince could have released. I don't think it would be all that fair to do the compare and contrast bit with the man, though, just because Prince has a definite sound, and that sound doesn't translate as well in today's market as it did in the 80s. (And besides, if there was a comparison, I could dig up several records that are better than this one, so let's not go there.)
