I don't think Prince is 'preaching' about today's music being shit. After all he does collabarate with some of todays artists in his music. I like the way he blends the music with the message, the words appeal to todays listenenrs and the words appeal to the skoolers, either way my ass starts movin when I hear it. biggrin

"complaining don't give you nothing but a bitter heart"

then he continues complaining... biggrin

thing is, "old school," now, includes things like tony m. "kids" today, who prince is apparently talking to, weren't even born when people were calling prince a sellout for incorporating hip-hop into his music only a handful of years after he made every effort to dis hip-hop.
it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

Ol' Skool begins with groups like the Temptations, Marvelettes and the like, runs through The Gap Band, The Time, Parliament, LTD and continues with Raphael Sadiq, John Legend, Anthony Hamilton and Jill Scott, to name a few.

Ol Skool is a mindset an appreciation for solid core values, committment to oneself and the community and an understanding of the role we play in the society at large.

Power 2 the people!
