He must be way too happy in his life. He has lost his edginess. I truly like his darker days. His music was on point. I agree with you 100% re: the cheesy lyrics. Old skool company would've been amazing w/ edgier lyrics - i still love it, but only cause i ignore the lyrics.

More power to you. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I've listend to Bria's so much due to music which really blows and Bria. Her voice is so pure. Elixer is just wow!! After several listens it sounds like "he s her. I don't care. I love her You go gurl! And Prince...u already know.

The music on Elixr is good for background sounds. Her voice on the other hand doesn't do anything for me, it's too generic sounding. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

lol im glad im not the only who noticed how nasty those lyrics are on "E-lix-ir" i think elixir on some tracks sounds more up to date compared to lotusflow3r and mplsound, but u cant really say any are better than the other, they all have their time and place for sounding good.

I can't compare the jazziness with a female singer...and Prince's assorted flavors of music as a male singer...I Love them all. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I like it well enough, but there is absolutely nothing interesting or compelling about it. I can't remember the titles or melodies of ANY of the songs, even after half a dozen listens.

This is what I feared. I haven't listened to it yet for this very reason. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

This is what I feared. I haven't listened to it yet for this very reason. i did add the title track to my Prince 2009 mega-playlist (basically combining the 2 albums for ease of listening at work) since it's a duet, and even that one is completely unmemorable to me

It is a Prince album, Bria is singing main vocals, Prince wrote the music, his vocals are all over the place, he is playing the instruments, etc. This is no less a Prince album than Lotusflow3r or Mplsound, yet people discounted this the second it was released because he wasnt singing main vocals and bria's name was on it?? crazy... The same people that trashed this, without listening to it at all, or maybe the first 3 seconds of each track, are now coming back to praise it. The flip flopping that goes on sometimes here is astounding
How this CD could be thrown aside so quickly by most is beyond me.....I find it very hard to believe that anyone who appreciates Prince could not love this album if actually given a proper listen, which for anything is at least 2 times through in my opinion. I judge each release independently and the quality of Elixir is amazing. Just so there are no accusations of purple cool-aid here, new power soul has 2 good tracks, come on and the one. The best release out of that new power trio was the album Prince did for Chaka, Come 2 My House is one fantastic record! I bet this one was never given a shot by most as well for the same reasons stated above. Prince really outdid himself this time, for me this is the best quality work he has done in years. We are very fortunate that he keeps choosing to share his material with us, in just 6 months we have 4 albums from him, not to shabby! now we just need a "vault" section on the new site where we can download some unreleased stuff peace I agree there is a knee jerk reaction to any female that Prince works with. And that Elixer has very good production. That being said, how you could put Chaka and Bria in the same posting is beyond me. I love Come 2 My House... but that's not just because it features some of Prince's best production work, but because of Chaka's amazing voice and presence on the record. That being said, props for Bria... to my ears she's taking her voice as far as it can go. It might not be far, but it was far enough to cut a Prince record, so you go Bria, do your thing. While you can. To me both of your posts were the most meaningful on this thread. To Sir, with Love

It is a great CD whether you like her or not. It was a well done collaboration project and they both complimented eachother nicely. This and Lotus are on par, but Elixer is a bit more my style.

I agree with this. Elixir is smooth R&B-ish, laid back music. My personal taste lends itself to more adventurous and diverse music so the Lotus Flower and MPLS cds are much better to me. [Edited 4/18/09 21:01pm]

I don't even know how you could call the track "Elixir" a Bria song, Prince has the majority of the vocals without her at all. That song should have been on his album! It's good. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid
