Sonny & Michael
or
Rhonda & John

The Dunhams seem like nice people, but they seem a bit generic.

I loved the 2nd Night(Thursday) the best, I loved the performance and sound

The other nights especially Friday (sounded like a James Brown, soul review)

precisely.

Sonny & Michael are ideal for power trio numbers, for example.

Remember Mike B. and Levi? And that guy named Miko and the crazy man who wore doctor scrubs, I think his name was Fink. Now that was a band to be reckoned with! You could throw in anyone one the second key board, but that core(see Nude Tour)group right there will leave you with a bloody lip cause their funk was so rough!

I have to say i like all, they are all diferent but great musicians.

To me John Blackwell was the best drummer Prince ever had, he would try things other people wouldnt even think of.

But i like The Dunhams too, they`re real grounded, they have a great sound, those Ritter basses are fantastic, and I think for an artist like Prince that loves to be the star of the show they are just right.

I think he's going for alot of straight and focused play, without much ad-libbing or theatrics.

If he wants to "re-imagine, and re-arrange" all of the songs, then he may return to more dynamic and imaginative players. He may be beyond all of that now, and just settle for the tight grove. It could be difficult at times to keep-up with what "special flavor" or interpretation that the band-members are placing on the songs.

I've focused on Blackwell at concerts, and he can hit a sample pad with a Linn Drum (LM-1) sample, and still not miss a beat..

He did so on The 1999/Purple Rain Material during The Musicology Tour. Then, there would some times, that folks could not understand the song from his play because he was so dynamic.

I never was able to see Bland, but I've heard rehearsals and performances. It's similar to Blackwell (but not the same). Sonny T. placed extra bass licks to songs that I've not heard on CD.

I suspect that the band/NPG of the last 5 years will remain. I do not believe that the other two Rythmn Sections/Bands: Blackwell/Smith or Thompson/Bland will return for this reason.

Sonny T and Rhonda could provide backing vocals, and Prince could add horns or another guitar player. I'm sure that he may add them later, in addition to background singers.. It's his choice, of course.

Those bands tended to be stronger when the players sang, IMHO.

prince needs rhythm guitar no no no
prince plays the best when he is the only guitar in the band
