Lotusflow3r:

Isa mix of Parade/UTCM

and

Third Stone From The Sun

MPLS

is the futurism of albums 7 / NPS / Rave

Elixer

is classic late 80's early 90's R&B and some UTCM

If '$' was passed off as an out-take from the 1985/6 era I could just about believe it. It has echoes of 'Dream Factory', 'Movie Star' and other stuff from that era. It's funky but not predictable (unlike the supposed 'funk' on MPLSound).

Love it.

$ has a rockabilly swing vibe. If you enjoy the sound, check out The Mavericks "Music for All Occasions"... it's brilliant and the lead singer has one of the best voices out there

Nobody talks about this song. What is wrong with you people?? lol

This is right up there with Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain, When Doves Cry!!

The chorus is perfect. He actually has original verses. It is flawless and complex. Doesn't sound clunky like the other tunes. Doesn't sound forced.

Do u people have fricken ears? lol horns

I luv it!

Ok but heres the thing... Prince didn't use the Camille voice on Parade

The vibe of the song sounds more like a 50s rock & roll vibe but with a Prince/funk edge

I do here some UTC/Parade vibe but thats more on tracks like Love like Jazz, 77 Beverly Park, and the opening track Into the Lotus.

$ doesn't give me that vibe at all.... but doesn't matter. Like I said we both can agree that it works... and sounds great! biggrin

you must not enjoy or have listened to Girls & Boys much
thats okay comfort

I love Girls & Boys... it is one of my all-time favorite Prince tracks and there is no Camille voice in Girl & Boys lol
Dance... Let me see you dance

I am so impressed with this song. I have listened to it about 20 times since Wednesday. As of right now, it is tied with Wall of Berlin for my favorite song on the new albums.

I'm loving this track too, and rather pleasantly surprised to see it getting positive comments. Their wasn't much love for its closest relative, which is actually "Courtin' Time" on Emancipation. I happen to think that's a great track too, but it seems to have a pretty small fan club.

Wow just heard it today and your spot on it's like a modern "Courtin Time" again on its own its a good track....not as good as "Courtin Time" but i've been playing that track for 10 years ....still $ is a good track not my fave on first play but its not weak track ..... biggrin

Is it me, or does this song remind you a bit of 'Hey Ya' by Outkast?

I mean, in my mind I could see the video of Hey Ya, with Princes song played on top of it, and it 'works'.

its cool, with the throwback to rock n roll already mentioned. its got that princey accent on the 2 (like delirious has live on the purple rain rour). its stood out straight away on the 2 albums.

just don't like them horns at the end, sounds a bit forced and reminds me of a receipt coming out of a old till! would have preferred a wiry horn line like billy jack bitch.
