Oh, you know what? I think I should read thread titles before flipping out. this is about a singular song, not the whole thing. I thought he was praising lotus as a whole
I like $ well enough but considering his ability to craft perfect pop songs, meh he's done it before and I don't consider it a genius moment. . [Edited 3/31/09 17:53pm] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

if my fav song is chocolate box, does that make me a bad person?
I also liked Boom, The Morning After....actually, i pretty much liked all of it except $ and Valentina (i would also add Colonized Mind, but after reading the lyrics, im giving it another chance.) How will we fill our empty room?

Yes. When I went driving to listen to this album for the first time (last Tuesday night), by the time I got to this one, I was giddy. When I heard this, I knew this album was a keeper and I was laughing and cheering and almost on the verge of tears.
Then "Dreamer" came on and my bowels released. These 2 tracks at the end of the album told me that Prince was back, without a doubt. For me at least.

[Edited 3/31/09 17:53pm] i kind of felt this way at first but i'll be damned if this song didn't pry its way into my brain. it's weird. weird! when was the last time we got prince weird that didn't come welded to prince cheesy-in-a-bad-way? cheesy-in-a-good-way i can handle. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

it's subtle, which prince doesn't always do very well anymore. the whirling synth line that comes in partway through the song, way quiet, is the hook. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

I said it the first time i heard it, $ has something, along with Valentina, which has this errie vibe thing going, something only songs like Darling Nikki, Joy in Repetition, others there with us and Annie Christian have If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

it's hard for me to describe adequately how much it is pissing me off that i am starting to like 'mplsound.' i stand by my original assessment (bland, pandering, screechy choruses, repetitious use of the same linn drum sample, obnoxious 'old man' lyrics). but... there's... something... going... on... there. it does seem to have its own sense of humor. which is something i've missed a great deal since '95 or thereabouts. and i have to admit, after a few more listens, there are some good melodies in these songs. still wish the waveforms looked like waveforms and not bricks though. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

see ya in an hour or so. One of favs allready as well. Just thinkin that 30 years or so later since he first came on the scene hes still producin great material. Seems like he is in a good place and time, as this cd has a little bit of everything with old and new sounds. Damn, this cd is good. Been following him since I was a teen when Controversy came out and these new cuts really challenge the listener to go on a journey with him. Thanks again Prince for all of the shows over the years, and also for letting your fans be a part of your Paisley World, who can forget those UPTOWN magazine tours to the Park, and letting your fans invited to soundchecks over the years. Here's to another 30 years. You would have made MILES happy with the new stuff.Crackin that smile with his trumphet in hand and those dark shades with a smile showing those pearly whites and bobbin his back and forth to $.
