Here is the thing...We had a full 4 songs from Lotus Flow3r already downloaded to our ipods for a week..and I was blown away by all four. So when I got Lotus in my hand I was already familiar with close to half of the material..MPLS was pretty much all new. That being said....I will go with MPLS due to the fact that it is a bit fresher, feels newer, and really is more experimental. BUT..had I not heard the 4 tracks from Lotus I think it would be my fav.

Wow, I really do like them both but right now MPLSound. Who knows how I will feel about these later but IMO I like these better than the last 3 studios. I do love Musicology.....

Definitely MPLSOUND, though I like Lotus too.

MPLSOUND is a hundred times more lively than Musicology, more balanced than 3121, and more intelligent than Planet Earth.

Strangely, I thought that I would answer with LotusFlow3r but MPLSound is the bomb!!! My woman heard it and has not stopped saying how much she loved it from start to finish which I also concur. It is just too funky!!! No More Candy for those of you who don't agree!!!

I think Lotus Flow3r is the better album, but I'm enjoying MPLSOUND more at the moment.

Lotus flower has better music. BUT i had high expectations about this record and it still surprised me. As far as mplsound goes i tought it was going to be more pop and less funk, so the old funk just hitted in my face. Then MPLSOUND REALLY surprised me,

Lol, more intelligent than Planet Earth? Heck no. Both have atrocious lyrics and some lame songs. Granted, the highs of Mplsound are higher.. But still.

My vote goes to LotusFlow3r. Hands Down.

I take Lotusflow3r over MPLsound any day.

Not that Lotusflowe3r belongs in the top of greatest Prince-albums, but in terms of songwriting, composition and production it pisses all over the failed plastic R&B album MPLsound is.

Lotusflower: 7 out of 10.
MPlsound: 4 out of 10.

the balance on my scales has tipped for Lotusflow3r. I just cant get into tracks 1,4, and 7 on MPLSound.

IMO Lotus is very solid, and is the first Prince album in a very, very long time where I like all the tracks and dont end up skipping thru.

I will be very interested to see what the results will be like when more people have bought it, particularly in Europe.

Finally, I am surprised that this thread was not made a sticky.

Love them both, but MPLSound edges it for me - get yo' funk on!

Lotus is far better than Mpls.

Hate to say it because I had so much expectation for the opposite.

Hard to say. I like something distinct about each of the albums. Ive probably listened to MPLSound a bit more, but I'm gonna have to say for me at least its a tie.

After listening to them both on cd without the shuffle that my ipod provides...i'm changing my vote. Lotusflow3r has just about everything on it a Prince fan could want. I even like Bria's in cd form

MplSound is more the type of Prince I've always loved. Maybe it also has to do with the fact that I listened to those leaked tracks from Lotus for a while, so now I'm a tad sick of them.

Yesterday when I was trying to burn a copy to CD for the car with tracks from both albums, it was much heavier on the MPLS jams. "Colonized Mind" and "Dreamer" are amazing though. I don't care that Crimson and Clover wasn't on the downloads, I prefer Joan Jett's version anyway.

EDIT: Oh, and I still haven't heard a single note of his girlfriend's album. I have no desire to either. He always gives the chicks his junk.

Even Elixer has sort of an late 80's early 90's R&B sound which people seem to crave like myself.
