I really dig Lotus too but MPLSound is pretty much everything I love about Prince. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

moderatorJust from what I've heard, I'm actually having a hard time choosing. I guess it's good I don't have to - but I'm feeling Lotus... more than I thought I would, specially for the intro and end - and ESPECIALLY that end. For me, this picks up where the energy of the TRC/News period left off - those are two of my top 5 favorite. | |

Had to sleep on this question.... knew I'd love Lotusflow3r album from hearing Colonized mind & I do but Im sitting in work rocking out to Dance 4 Me for the upteenth time... 
Just for this bad assed track i'll say MPLSound for now. One minute they want peace……

to me they are 2 sides of the same coin... i view it as a double album.
But if I had to choose, I'd probably go with Lotusflow3r by a hair. * * *

I didn't expect this, but Lotusflow3r is more funky than Mplsound! Mplsound is good, but compared to Lotusflow3r it sounds a little too flat. Except 'No More Candy 4 U'. That song is just alive with humor! | |

Lotus. It's the first Prince album since TGE that I don't skip a single song....and those last 3 songs are just killin me...esp $.
But like MPLSound too...just don't dig that 1st tune too much, and think the ballads are a little blah. But Old Skool and No Candy For U, best funk tunes from the guy since Days of Wild. I do think PFunk should've been on there as well. I added it to my ipod playlist as the first song. |

One quick listen of each so far. Y'know that listen where you skip like hell. Lotusflow3r. I knew it would be. Gonna be songs I skip on both though. But I kinda knew I wouldn't like Mplsound much based on the early releases we heard.

Yesterday it was MPLSound.
Today it's LotusFlow3r. Think it's going to stay that way. If you remove the cringe-inducing "Love Like Jazz" and his horrific variation on "That's Amore" (the next track), which I've done, it's a near blissful album. It's really pretty awesome. | |

Both are excellent.
I love this period when your getting to know the albums. There are certain tracks that are growing and nothing is below good and most is great to excellent. I'm even really liking Elixer,the only song i'm not keen on over the whole set is 2nite. If push came to shove it's MPLSound but there aint a lot in it. The man is a genius. The albums are so good, he just needs to put more content on the site, get rid of the silly pictures and put up a handful more rare clips and I'm a happy boy. | |

MPLSound!!!! 'Here' & 'No more candy 4 u' seal it..they sound like undiscovered tracks from the controversy/Purple Rain era. Lotus...has some great stuff, but a couple of half arsed mid-tempo songs & a bit too much 'Muso-waffle' for my tastes. MPLSound just gets to the point..and it sounds like a proper album! At the moment, LotusFlow3r easily. Tracks like "4ever" or "Dreamer" got me hooked instantly while I feel MPLSound needs to grow on me still. | |

mplsound has a constant sound..it sounds like he was...curious. Lotus is good, but not as perfect as mpls. [Edited 3/26/09 16:49pm] I agree that MPLSound has a more consistent feel, a more album like constancy than Lotusflow3r. However, I'd have to pick Lotusflow3r just now. Boom, 4ever, Dreamer, FBFGFW, $, Colonized Mind - all up there with some of Prince's best work. MPLSound surprised me by how good it is, but as I'm forced to pick only one album, LF gets it..... So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young? | |

why do i get the suspicion that these are Princes Black and White Albums?
regardless, these two albums are probably the most comprehensive works he has done since Sign O the Times. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
