Please!!!! Prince is so out of touch with reality. Who does he know or has known in the last 30 years that is strugglig? When's the last time he walked in North MPLS, or hung out on the corner of Chicago and Lake in MPLS. Man, Prince doesn't even live here anymore much less swing by to jam with local bands or visit local venues! He's the sucka!! You sound ignorant! You call me ingnorant because I state the facts. Prince tries to sell us on the idea that he's all about "the people" when the truth is he's the farthest thing from it. He's the most reclusive, unapproachable, contradictory out of touch, disillusioned "brotha" I can think of. Do me a favor, keep eating what he's spoon feeding you and try not to throw up.

Man, Prince doesn't even live here anymore much less swing by to jam with local bands or visit local venues! He's the sucka!! Yo, wake the f*ck up Big John. Of course Prince knows lots of people that's struggling, after all, he just took $77 from a bunch of them so he could re-sell them the same videos and photos they already bought years ago! Most "fams" don't realize it, but the $77 price tag is likely a tongue-in-cheek reference to the "Prince Economic Relief Act of 2009". That's why he was joking about AIG and the $700B - it's even more fun to take people's money when you can do it laughing in their face and they don't even get the joke. I'm just surprised Prince didn't come out wearing a ManU jersey so he could have made the joke more overt - Prince and AIG, two peas in a pod! No Candy 4 Me

I think it is truly sad that people on this site think they know Prince's where abouts, who he hangs out with, and he only is around rich people. If you do not know him personally do not make false statements. You have no idea who he associates with off camera and who he knows is struggling. Just because he maybe blessed financially does not mean he does not know what it means to struggle and also has friends, associates, and other people he knows who are struggling.
I think the reality is anyone claiming Prince is "out of touch" without knowing him personally and thinking what they see in the media as a 24/7 reality about Prince is the person who is truly "out of touch" with the fact he is a human being. I would suggest you not assume you know him based on marketing and media and that goes for anyone who happens to have a career where they are in the media regularly. He is also a Witness of Jehovah and would meet all types of people regularly in his ministry work in addition to who he may know personally who is struggling. I also think it is naive for anyone to assume period that all artists who perform on stage are wealthy and that is not always the case. JustKeepinItReal

But his philosphy has always been not accepting or recognizing the fallacy and imperfection of any man-made system...rejecting world viewpoints in favor of his own vision and the belief in a Higher Power. That's what's kind of cool about the guy. So it just sounded like theatrics.

He who has the gold, makes the rules = Might makes right. The Conservative Wealthy Moralist just want the poor to "Stay out of their pockets". So, they use morals as a dividing factor: You are poor because you sin. But, if you really study how a good number of the rich actually acquired their wealth and fame, it's cut-throat, immoral, and deadly means and outcomes. Corporations destroy the planet and people, and they've had enough time to correct their mistakes. The Auto-makers have had the technology to create electric and Natural gas cars for decades. The first cars ran on hemp and steam..lolololol! A good number of wealthy business owners push un-healthy food, medications, liquor, beer, etc.. Musicians would be no different. They push a great amount of immoral behaviour to gain attention, and then judge everyone else. That's why this country is doomed by prophecy as "The Daughter of Babylon". Too many Hypocritical Sinners here and all around the world. YHWH is Elohim and Yahoshua is King [Edited 3/27/09 11:00am]

Prince hangs with the Hollywood elite..
Celebrities at his private bashes won't crush him with "Mad Fanaticism". Don't blame the celebrities because "fans" and the common public cannot control themselves, and actually treat them like everyone else. The women have a "groupy-mentality", and cannot control themselves around him and other celebrities. Other people are pushing demo CDs, ideas, or other reasons beyond just having a good time with everyday people. Why do you scream for someone who just makes music? It could be the best music that you've ever heard, but its not saving lives. It's not speaking The Truth. No music is speaking The Truth. If celebrities seem "exclusive" and "reclusive", then it's everyone's fault for giving them more power than they really deserve. They only act that way because they are so in love with themselves, because you-the public loves them too much for no reason. You love them just because they faces appear on The TV and The Interent more than yours or you neighbor's. Still, your neighbor is the one who is more likely to save your life! He's been around the fans in very close settings ,I have NEVER seen anyone spaz out in front of him-or leave their decorum at home. He'sextended himself to work with musicians/dancers giving them the chance to go tour, learn, while making money.I doubt many who've worked with him in the not so distant past are rich.Their wealth lies in doing music while pursuing creative endeavors. What they do after working with him is up to them to push further.
Why gripe about him being in LA to party amoungst his peers not every action has to have him working/playing for fans only. Prince, always gets into the political rants. He might not show up at the soup kitchen and serve shepards pie to the commoners. But,He'll write a check to help the cause. help is help ...he'd help various causes. [Edited 3/27/09 19:41pm]

Methinks that it would seem to be a little out of touch with the basics of economics to suggest that the wealthy are not being affected by current economic conditions, are somehow, magically, beyond economic realities, and that they generally don't have financial worries - which seems to be a prevalent thought on the thread...
Funny, I thought it was the opposite: that the more money you have, the biggest a headache it is: more taxes, more expenses, more financial responsibilities of all sorts, to the point that most often than not the wealthy need to hire a financial expert to manage their wealth/assets - one more thing on their plate. All this to say that I could very well imagine Prince's 'rich' friends in the entertainment industry, as they are being called here, being affected by the recession and having to deal with a pile of financial problems, the scale of which may well surpass those of us mere mortals.
