i've seen purple rain. and never watched it again. i've very indifferent about it. and i've watched sign o' the times.

but what are the others like? graffi bridge and under the cherry moon? (i think thats all?)

I love under the cherry moon, its a great movie, and although there are alot of mixed opinions about grafitti bridge i really like it, the story line isn't great and the acting is pretty poor, but Prince is gorgeous in this and the music is fab!

masterpiece's. same category as other greats like Its A Wondeful Life, Gladiator, Schindlers List, Ben Hur, Ghandi among others.

if you like surreal art, they're great. if you watch them as regular movies,
they're shockingly bad.

If you don't like Purple Rain or Sign "O" The Times, you're in for a disappointment with the others. PR and SOTT are the best ones.

Under The Cherry Moon does have its own charm though, and is actually pretty good as a romantic comedy. The visuals in that movie are absolutely stunning.

Graffiti Bridge is one hot mess of a movie - for completists only. Having said that, I enjoy the musical performances in it.

Graffiti Bridge isn't as good as King Kong VS Godzilla and Under the Cherry Moon is comparable to the worst ever Marx Bros. movie.

They all are fine 4 me, the important in those movies is that Prince was in them !!! he isn´t an actor he´s the most performing, singer, instrumentist and composer in the world !!!

The movies are fun. I think "Purple Rain," is a great musical.

"Under the Cherry Moon" is really awkward in all respects, but it's fun.

"Graffiti Bridge" is just terrible, but it's fascinating in its badness.

My favourties are Purple Rain & Under The Cherry Moon following SOTT & Graffiti Bridge a tie @ 3rd. I love SOTT album (classic) Everytime I see the SOTT movie/show The outfit Prince is wearing I had one almost like that.That was the style in 87'

I love Purple Rain but here's something not to do. I was reading Netflix comments out of curiosity one day and someone actually said they watched Purple Rain but fast forwarded thru the music performances and thought the film was awful. Duh, the performances are what make the movie.

I like Under the Cherry Moon but wish there were a few more performances in it, just get Girls and Boys really and then background music, still this is Prince's best acting and he is pretty funny in it.

Grafitti Bridge is pretty bad, some decent performances. The acting and set are horrible.

..i have ALL of prince's movies..and the trailers..they are very good flicks becuz each one of them shows prince and his friends AND they all seem 2 b having a good ole time..

All movies aren't supposed to be spiritually deep or answer a meaning of life, nor are they all supposed to make you laugh or cry. Some are supposed to do them all.

I enjoy Purple Rain for what it was intended, it's a ROCK movie
and it is actually a very personable movie (some times for me if the acting is to PC or too 'real' then I don't enjoy it(like a sitcom) in a lot of sitcoms it's exaggerated, nobody lives like that in 30 minutes. But it can be really good acting. What I understand about Purple Rain is that it is a mirror of the lives of Prince, Morris Day & the Time, Jill Jones, Susan & Brenda the Revolution members (Wendy & Lisa in real life were the outspoken ones the fellas were the buddies the homeboys) Dez Dickerson.

What I think is unique about Purple Rain, is that it was a mirror of the Minneapolis scene via Uptown/Prince. Just about everyone that played a minor-major role in the movie was a coworker, musician, friend of Princes. From the cab driver to the MC, the club owner and his girlfriend/wife, Susan was his out of highschool girlfriend, Brenda was the wife of his stage director(?) Alan Leeds(tour manager) was in the movie hanging out with Billy, Terry Christian from Mazarati was seen in the Taste club (dude standing with the shades)

The only people that were (real)actors were Prince's parents.

The music was too real, can't be touched. This movie represented the drive and hunger to make it for all the singers/musicians involved. It was filmed in his home town, so that was even more real, even down to how his dressing room looked and his bedroom section-all that was real. This movie was great (it's supposed to be a bit chessy, just like Halloween I & II and the Breakfast Club.

But those are some great movies. Purple Rain as a movie is just like having some of his best fan albums. It's not like Under the Cherry Moon or Sign of the Times(concert film) To me it's a lot more intimate. This movie kinda put a face to the albums and music and vibe of Uptown & Erotic City, the protege expressions...



They're exaggerations or minimizations developed to fit a story that never happened, yet, in a strange way, a story that is their reality.

To me, Prince & the Times entire thing is visual. The microcosm they've developed 4 themselves was a movie begging to be made."

There's music... that means there's night, there's bars, there are alley's. All of a sudden, a story begins to emerge.
