on drums - michael b. !!!

great! once had a real nice talk to him an hour or so before a concert in vienna back in the 90s - a real nice guy.

during our talk he even told me there that there will be an afterparty and the location - and so I had the chance to see prince at the technical museum in vienna performing at 4 in the morning!

thanks michael b.!!!

for those lucky guys who can see these concerts - have fun an tell us about!

Sounds wonderful!!

Can you recall the exact date? I didn't know he played in Austria apart from the two nights at the SOTT tour and that aftershow-like one-off at the U4. confuse

it was on the 25 / 26 august '93 - first was the show at the donauinsel and afterward the aftershow at the technical museum:

setlist:
What's Up?
The Ride
Jailhouse Rock
The Undertaker
Black MF In The House
Race
Dark
Peach / When You Were Mine / Bambi / Can't Stop This Feeling I Got
Come
House In Order
Johnny

what a great night!!!! before the concert, our little friend stood just 1 meter away from us to have a drink at a bar ...

94' all over.... nod

only if he ditches the hits will it b '94 all over again pray

I hate the use of the term 'HITS'
It's music, creative really good music
If Prince opened up the box more and instead of doing Raspberry Beret do Girl or She's Always In My Hair
instead of Take Me With U do 17 Days
Add the finger cymbols to Girls & Boys (I just love that song)
Love or Money
Uptown
Party Up
Computer Blue
God
Shortberry Strawcake
Mountains
Mutiny
100mph
Strange Relationship
Play In The Sunshine
I Wish U Heaven
Lovesexy
Space

pull out some of the other songs, mix it up...

Why is this line-up not getting me too excited??

There are more interesting people from his past...either that or a whole new band to push Prince to places he no longer dares to go.

Now THAT would be exciting excited

I agree

pull in BrownMark 2 drum that bass and Rhonda on the stand up bass
Wendy & one of those Minneapolis guitarists from Mazarati

well, if you look at it this way: contemporary country isn't a whole lot different than contemporary r&b these days. it all sounds like the same lite FM fluff. it's just that the country songs are being sung by people in cowboy hats, and the soul songs are being sung by people who are not wearing cowboy hats.

still, sheila needs to take that damn hat off. disbelief

wow about this hat?

well if u can stop screaming 4 him 2 do raspberry beret or any song off purple rain it can happen!!

don't let me get my MLK variation of I have a dream speech on u big grin

omg falloff Im done with the Purple Rain hits, but he isn't. PRain for the 1,135th time y'all get ready.

There are only 3 songs from Purple Rain that he performs: Let's Go Crazy Take Me With U & Purple Rain(which by the way everytime I hear it performed, it's different and I love it) He could pull out the Ladder or Free in it's place sometimes, just to keep it fresh2009. But I Would Die 4 U, Baby I'm A Star, 17 Days, Erotic City(which I think we may be hearing more of) or any number of unreleased jams from the PR sessions: Possessed, Lust U Always, Traffic Jam(that would seriously work with the Minneapolis Sound material)

I think there were legal song rights issues.

I heard Levi intentionally leaked unreleased music which wound up on bootlegger releases because he was so pissed at P.

Yeah I read that too, there was also some songs Prince didn't give him credit on, just like he did 2 Eric Leeds

okay u may hate the term "hits" but when he's on stage proclaiming "i've got more hits than madonna has kids" and goes in2 say raspberry beret, what's he labeling that song as then? a hit.

ur substitutions r good ..tho mix in more 90's material - current and i'll b satisfied ..music the 80's r over and the time has come 4 a new proclomation of love and fun .."
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I think he needs a guitar player. bring Mike Scott Back.

My vote for a second guitar would be Miko and Miko only. If he doesn't have Miko then he can handle it all himself.

Some of the things I loved about Mico (and he said this in an interview) is that he listened to Prince's music and learned to play (Prince's music) so when he came to the band he didn't come with someone else style of playing. He in the Prince camp late 82 early 83 thru Sheila E.

Prince had a good energy with Mico and Miko's energy was similar to Prince (he had a spacey attitude about him)

Josh and Cora are a great rhythm section who can play anything Prince throws their way. Haters need to step down.

They can play it fine; they're professional musicians after all. They're just boring. I have no idea why, but I guess Prince wants a boring back up band because I'm sure they are playing exactly the way he tells them.

mmmmm hmmmm

There is a reason Cora had to get up 4 Sheila at the Brit Awards during Purple Rain

There are a lot of good musicians, but only certain musicians can play Purple Music, Sheila & Bobby Z are the only 2 that have ever played 'Purple Rain' and it sounded like drums for Purple Rain

my comment about the HITS wasn't directed at U, but the usage of it, (Mainly by Prince) I don't care 4 him to refer to those songs as the HITS especially since Take Me With U wasn't one of them. If we go by what the hits really means it would be: 1999 DMSR Little Red Corv Delirious How Come U Don't Call Me Erotic City When Doves Cry 17 Days America Pop Life

I agree, mix it up more, I was going there but trying to shake up the idea of what can be played in substitution for 'his hits'

Strollin, Digital Garden, Rainbow Children, Everywhere is a happy song, I really love his performances of Guitar, the Future (it was hot 2 hear Party Man, Irrisistable Bitch, Hot Thang, Lady Cab Driver) in recent shows

I believe with his Minneapolis Sound & Lotus Flower rock flavored albums he should pull up more songs that plend well with these styles

I would love to attend an all out Prince rock show
