My Version 2: "COME" the video

Black & white:

We see clips of a city. It's nighttime.

Somewhere along a deserted beach strolls a lonely lady.
She's walking barefooted, holding her heels with her right hand, while her left
keeps her dress from touching the moist sand beneath her.

She is sad. She has obviously left some party in the city and driven herself
to a nearby beach. This could be Nice (in the South of France). She looks out onto the ocean.
Her eyes are so profoundly sad just looking at them in their beauty makes you cry.

We hear the sounds of the water hitting the shore...the beginning of the song.

Suddenly, a long black limousine pulls up at the top of the beach, along the road.
The bass drum sounds, a voice is heard (in her mind)...

"If u're 18&Over, come here, I got something 4 ur mind..."

The beat is extended so long as we see her walk up the beach, get into the open
limo (whose door is mysteriously opened by itself).

The door closes. Fade out.

"Come!...u should do that, baby..."

We see shots of the car speeding along the deserted road...cut to shots of the lady in the back seat.
Is there a driver or isn't there? We don't know. We never see one.

She doesn't seem to care. Something is calling her. She goes with the flow..

The car begins heading up a long and winding hillside..approaching a castle-like mansion
at the very top.

There is a drawbridge. It's been lowered..awaiting her arrival.

The door opens, she steps out. She looks up at the castle...
Cut to a clip of the mansion.
It looks a little like
the building behind Prince on the album cover...we see a flash of lightning. The sky is
now a dark purple, though the rest of the clip is still black & white.

Cut back to the woman's face. She proceeds to walk along the drawbridge into the castle.
The drawbridge begins to close up again. Fade out.

Fade in: The music is now in full swing.
We see shots of her exploring the castle. It is vast.

Cut to a clip of our mysterious man...Prince. He sits in a room resembling the Batcave.
He is positioned behind a console, with numerous surveillance videos.

For every room she enters, one of her fantasies is played out before her. Could this be the future? Could it be the past? Who knows.

These clips interchange with scenes of her running around the castle.
These fantasy clips are shot in colour...and are very brief. They leave the audience guessing.

Shots of Prince and these 'fantasy' clips, as well as the scenes of 'the lady' in the castle are interchanged throughout.

"It's no wonder there's a puddle there, holding it in for so long..."

- The scene is reminiscent of the scene in George Michael's "Freedom '90" video, where Christy Turlington's sequence is dreamy-like and separated by black fade ins & outs.

Now cut to a shot of the lady accepting this feeling, she is shown in silouhette against
a window with blinds. There is a deep purple/hot pink light shining through. She does a solo 'grind' dance with a chair.

Shots of Prince's eyes and him sitting at his console fade in & out of this sequence.

After the horn solo section of the song, comes a climactic feeling in the song.

The woman finally comes to a succession of rooms which seem to be telling her something...that she's approaching what is is she's looking for...Prince.

She finds his 'Batcave'...but it's empty!

A door in the distance is just about to close...a coloured light is glowing from within.

She runs across to it...

And there...she finds Prince laying on a bed...in the shadows...waiting just for her.

Scene cuts to a foreground shot from behind 'the lady'. She begins to unbotton her top and the door to the room closes. Leaving us in blackness.

Fade out. End.
