i was having a passionate affair with a married woman at the time of it's release.
I'd suffer when she went home to her careless husband and these 2 songs were crazy and somehow took some edge off my jealousy.
Later she did want to leave her husband and make a baby with me.
There was no happy ending though. I got scared and ran away.
For me Marrying kind is immense and loaded. I love it but don't always have the energy to listen to it.

Affairs very rarely end in a happy ending, someone somewhere will get hurt!

Great song and a perfect build-up for an even greater song; "If I Was The Man In Your Life". The best on Musicology.

I find musicology to be prince playing safe, I never listen to it anymore as I find it so uninspiring.. however the 'marrying kind' and 'If I Was The Man In Your Life' are great and should have been kept for a better album imho

yep!

thing was, she was a very pretty woman and when we were out n aboutshe would flirt withother men. There was nothing nothing behind it but it would still irritate me and I asked her on a few ocaisions to stop doing it, she didn't stop and this not stopping I found disrespectful. So when she wanted to make a commitment I decided we wouldn't be good together. Baby making i take seriously.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
