Now all this talk of Target and the US distribution, is making me feel a little left out here in Australia.

This starting to become a real test for Prince in how he values his non-US fans. You would hope that he's entered into similar negotiations with retailers in other international markets.

Put it this way if either a) I have to get this thing online (i.e. Amazon etc..) or b) There is a significant lag time between the US release and physically being able to buy it in Australia, I will be 'CKING PISSED! mad

why?

you will be able to DL it from the site. I dont see what the problem is hmmm

Cool. We'll just let Prince know that the whole US Target thing is unnecessary; and that no-one really wants a physical copy. rolleyes

Or alternatively, maybe we can convince Prince to have an exclusive distribution deal with an Australian retailer, while the US can take their chances with the DL. biggrin

oh you are unable to mail order a physical copy when its released?
a mail order copy from the site wouldn't suffice either?

i dont recall there being a world wide give away of the PE album in a news paper? i missed that one

when Springsteen (was that him, right?) released his record through Wal mart earlier...how did non U.S'ers get it?

The new Bruce Springstein record is available everywhere. I reckon it'll be the same with Prince. Why some of these folks are complaining, I don't know. Just remember this - Prince is a bignamed star, not some newbie musician just starting out, or even a relatively unknown artist like Rahsaan Patterson who used to be on a major label but has now gone indie. I know I've never been able to get HIS last 2 albums in stores, but it's a different situation. So, all 3 of Prince's new albums WILL be available over here in Australia. Expensive or not. Guaranteed like Morris Day. Yaiss. Cuz like I said earlier, "Crystal Ball" & "The Rainbow Children" came out on US import. Hell, even the One Nite Alone boxset was readily available at the time of its release. I bought it at the HMV store in my area...when it was still around.....it's gone now. Bottom line, this album WILL be available in stores over here. Some how some way. So, please, Jah children...stay away from war and strife, stop all ya fuss and fight if you want to be safe in these times.

True, however, alternatives for international distribution for PE had already been arranged. This time it's not so clear.

I was simply making the point that should the release occur in the way I explained a few posts ago (i.e. organising US distribution, while other countries deal with mail or DL) reflects poorly on Prince and how he values fans outside of the US.

But, of course, you know all this. You strike me as being quite savy and able to detect the occasional use of sarcasm and exaggeration to help illustrate an argument.

i have a feeling , like PE Musicology and 3121, its just a promotional CD, its not a serious album. it worth exactly what its price is for. The price is the cost of it as a promotional tool for the web site. it wouldn't make any sense to ship it everywhere. if it was a serious album it would cost much more than that and then likely be available everywhere.

Target US and Target Australia are apparently not the same company, but I've seen an American Target catalogue and it's pretty much the same as what's over here....except they've got more food I think, not just lollies like we do.

If you're right, then he certainly went out of his way to arrange world wide distribution for the last 'non serious' 3 albums. Again, if you're right, why wouldn't he do the same again this time around?

Like I said, this release is a lot more unclear. There are no local release dates like there have been in the past. Just makes me wonder.

its nothing to print on a casing like that, so no its likely not a vinyl decal, its a case manufactured with a print directly on the case. not a sticker

I hear ya...

Not sure about the Flip Cam?... Bcause on their websight U have the option 2 design Ur own (with Ur own image)... so it very well could B made/ordered like that (on top of it... it does have the Flip logo).

... However... if U look @ the Fone... U can sort of see the "lining" of the vinyl (decal) on it.

The artwork on the camera looks more like a vinyl shrink-wrap to my eyes. It looks slightly stretched in some areas.
