purplecam said: 2elijah said: Exactly. I do remember someone mentioning there was a Walmart in the Bronx on another post, but we like I said, there's only a few. I believe some residents, a while back, didn't want a Walmart in some boroughs, back in the 90s, but I bet they wish we had more now. Anyway, I think Target is a pretty good choice because of the many locations, and the fact that not everybody shops online. [Edited 3/3/09 9:07am] Oh there are NO Wal Marts in the Bronx. If there were, I would have said so and given y'all subway, bus and highway info on how to get there. People across the city complained about it killing off the Mama and Pop stores and taking over the neighborhoods at large, along with people arguing about there not being any labor unions attached with Wal Mart (This is a union-run town here in NYC) so that was another block for W-M. Personally, I want Wal Mart in NYC. I've always enjoyed shopping there when I could. I believe that is why they wouldn't let Walmart come into Queens as well. I believe residents who lived near the area where developers wanted to build it, blocked it. I also heard they were suppose to build a Target near 58th street between Lexington/3rd Avenues, on the upper eastside, one block from Bloomingdales/59th street in Manhattan, back in early 2000s, but I have a feeling the snooty Manhattan residents, said heck no, and probably thought it either wasn't upscale enough for that area, or because it would definitely cause major traffic delays, as that area is always jammed with traffic. I also think like you stated, that it would be a threat to the other small business. traffic.

Long before Target hit the neighborhood and I was a kid, I lived in the Marble Hill projects, across the street from where Target is. My grandparents weren't too far in Fordham from the area. That store is around 5 years old now and it's very busy in there. I went there a few times while still living in Fordham Rd. It's right by the #1 train, Metro North Railroad, a few bus lines and the highway too (Major Deegan Exp). Ahh the memories. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". nooooo i want the lyrics WITH the cds!! ugh...i hate that we have print the lyrics off the internet... having the lyrics WITH the cds is half the fun of buying cds... That quote is from the Drfunkenberry site. I have no idea, like everyone else, how it will be setup for purchase. Only what we are being told through the articles posted from other sites, and what's on Drfunkenberry's site. I would think that if he makes the artwork/lyrics available for purchase, then that would probably apply if he had the albums available for download. It makes sense. But if you purchase it as a "cd" in a store or from his site, I see no reason why the artwork/lyrics are not included with the packaging. On another note, as far as how the music will be available for international fans vs U.S. fans for purchase, I remember on George Michael's site, if I recall, George has separate purchasing sections for his international fans and U.S. fans on his site, who want to purchase his music. So who knows, maybe P will decide to do the same thing. All you can do is wait and see like the rest of us. [Edited 3/3/09 10:24am]

I agree, for those who stick with the CD till it dies, it's a nice treat to include the lyrics in the booklet. Madonna stopped doing that 10 years ago.

What will Target sell, then? 3 CDs in blank covers? ? i.e. planet earth method man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Oh for pete's sake... It's an intelligent guess based on the fact that the announcement hints that we may have to download full artwork and lyrics from the Lotus Flower website. Prince is not going to release blank looking CD-Rs with Sharpie marker pen titles but neither is he going to manufacture full glossy CD booklets. So somehere in between would be logical no? wait didn't he do that on the 3rd disc of crystal ball? man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

2elijah said: Rogue588 said: Actually, Wal*Mart would've been the correct answer. Well, actually, there is no right or wrong answer, because it all depends on location, and which store, Target/Best Buy/Walmart, would work for you. In my opinion, and I based thist on the NYC area only, which I should have stated in the previous post, Target attracts more customers in the NYC area, because they advertise more, and they have more locations which are easier for NYC residents to get to. There are plenty of Best Buys as well, and they have weekly circulars, but Target has more of a variety of merchandise other than audio/music, etc. Walmart does also, but the problem with Walmart is that you can't find any within the 5 boroughs of NYC. Now Walmart has plenty of stores out in New Jersey, Long Island, NY areas, but for New Yorkers, a shopper would have to travel to Nassau County to find one. I heard there is a Walmart, near the United Nations, but not too sure about that. I only shopped at Walmart when my family had moved to Florida for a while, because there weren't any within NYC. I would have loved if there were, but unfortunately we have to travel far to find one. I heard their is one near the United Nations, but not too sure. I only shopped at Walmart when my family had moved to Florida for a while, because there werent' any within NYC. I would have loved if there were, but I would have to go out near the Green Acres Mall, in Valley Stream, NY to shop at that one, and to be honest with you, that is not exactly a decent, store if you know what I mean. Some of the merchandise there is not up to par, like other Walmarts I've shopped at in Florida and near the Roosevelt Field Mall in near Westbury, NY. There is also a Wal Mart in White Plains, not too far from The Bronx. What you said is very true, just that as a NYer, it won't be as easy to get to Wal Mart like it will be with Target. and who told u that there was one? man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

This is old news.
Target hardly ever advertises for music. Just clothes, cosmetics and home goods. The last Target commercial showcasing a music artist that I saw was for T.I and Justin. Best Buy or independent distributorship would have been better. I think most people don't shop at Target for music but for home essentials and junk food. I think Prince knows this.

You're kidding me right? I am not saying "music" in particular but in 2006, 2007 and 2008, how is it that you never saw a Target commercial? You don't remember when they had different colors with their trademark, like blue, green and other colors when they advertised for their store? Do you get their circulars? Because I get their circulars every week for the past 3 years.
