Prince at the Conga Room * Everybody do that Conga! Purple rocksucker* I couldn't make it to the show last night cuz of my job but here's a review by rdhull:
Im spent, Im elated, In damn near purple done. Just when I think my experience cant get any higher I actually got to strum the hohner geetar and kiss it several times. Granted, amidst a throng of fevered folks but it was in my hot little hands and I shredded that sucker and damn near gave head to it. Oh, he sang a full verison of 1999. My mind says prepare to fight! verse as well and the party coda Another amazing sight was seeing continually seeing Prince play the guitar with one hand, not showing off but as part of his style. He can do that guitar damage one handed. Love when he does that. Sheila E sang G Life and tore it up...she received so much love from the crowd...when she sang the opening chords with her voice ("la la la la la") the crowd went apeshit...and all night the crowd was packed and energetic...and boy oh boy did Prince and band vibe off of it..Oscar night bash who? Tavis, Cornel, Michael Eric Dyson and Prince all in a row dancing (Cornell West is a drunk uncle acting fool it was wonderful wo watch! lmao..Dyson doing the robot and trapped in an invisible cell dance...oh my damn) it was literally surreal...like a funked up Fellini film...it all did not make sense but yet it was happening in front of our eyes...shit is legendary..Did Jesse Jackson kiss Sheila E ? whaa? The guitar situation caused a near riot but I got my kisses in (literally)...he handed the guitar to us and somehow it came to me so I caressed it but then as it was held in a circle with me and it in the middle I began playing the strings, then shredddin it and kissing it..3-4 times lol. I know Im weird but that guitar is like the sword in the stone to me...then others partook in beginning to put their grubby little mits on it and shredded with me really putting that sucker out of tune..Im sorry Prince...finally it was a mass circle with me and the guitar in the middle kissing it and the tech came by and we let go, but a lady grabbed it and was hugging it like "Its mine its mine I got it"..I had to tell the lady "you have to give it back..its part of the act" pointing to the guitar tech...she looked open eyed and opened her hands and the tech said 'thank you' and swooped it up..god bless him...so to quell the masses Prince came out and did Purple Rain and wrecked shit with it..oh dear This crowd as vibing very hard. Many jump up and down moments. Prince spoke about when he "wrote slave on my face, back in the day" and how precious few understood what he meant...the industry and Tavis ..and that though a JW who does not vote, he is still engaged and a proponent for "righteous leadership" in an answer to his recent critics The website was open for all to play around with $ is on it, Boom, DREAMER which he played live and is going to be badass! Website wont go up for a bit more still working out the glitches. I asked Scott to tell Prince to throw one extra song on there to help keep the masses at bay...turns out Jellyfish is not on any of the releases...he made that song impromptu when designer Anthony M created some of the jellyfish designs that hover around...so that anwered that lol Band mates are ever gracious coming out to meet folks after... My Babygirl, thanks for holdin up. Met a lot of great folks (we are getting used to seeing each other lol)..eric, elaine, howard, cecil, cody, codys friend with the hat with the tag on it still, cheryl, Maya, Mike (his first ever Prince concert on a whim, ha, its all over for him now haha). amazing! thank u for the update on things too. prince is just the best, no other entertainer like him. bummed Discojellyfish is off but i love the fact he made it out of a little something on his site haha. awesome. i wonder how much longer we have to wait... What is $ like? Glad to hear Disco Jellyfish is NOT on any album. I could make something like that in Apple's Soundtrack program...someone needs to ask Prince what happened to the cloud. | |
