PRINCE OSCAR PARTY "A DISASTER" NY POST

http://www.nypost.com/sev...156610.htm

February 24, 2009 --

BRANDON "Greasy Bear" Davis was overheard calling his grandmother Barbara Davis a hypocrite for accepting an invite from Graydon Carter to attend the Vanity Fair Oscar bash at the Sunset Tower Hotel.

The Beverly Hills grand dame vowed never to speak to Carter again after the hard-hitting article Vanity Fair did on the Davis clan in 2005. Brandon didn't even try to crash the soiree and neither did his brother, Jason "Gummy Bear" Davis.

The triumphant return of the VF Oscar party - canceled last year because of the writers' strike - featured Kate Winslet clutching her Oscar, Vivi Nevo and fiancée Ziyi Zhang sitting with Brian Grazer, Wendi Murdoch and Phillip Dauman, and MySpace founder Chris DeWolfe huddling with Lyor Cohen at the inside bar. Elsewhere, Madonna, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher threw a party, as they did last year, at Guy Oseary's house, but with less success. Rosario Dawson, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Chris Rock, Sharon Stone and Jessica Biel left early for the Vanity Fair bash.

Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan had a spat at Oseary's. A source said, "Sam was so nice and chill. She came up to the deejay booth to speak to Jus Ske and DJ Kiss. But then Lindsay came up and started to argue with Sam. The more Sam tried to calm her down, the more irate Lindsay became."

Meanwhile, Prince's bash was a full-on "disaster." Our spy added, "At around 6 p.m., Prince's camp abruptly announced the party had been moved from his house to Club Avalon and would be open to the public with a $100 admittance fee. There was no open bar, not even in VIP."

The Us Weekly crowd went to Patrick Whitesell, Rick Yorn and Mike DeLuca's bash in the Hollywood Hills. Paris Hilton, Stavros Niarchos, Jeremy Piven and Mary-Kate Olsen drank until 5 a.m. amid a throng of "20-somethings. Which is weird," said our spy, "since Patrick, Mike and Rick are all now married in their 40s."

I heard this too. I heard the show was great but the disorganization prevented alot of stars from coming in as they didnt have a private entrance they all had to walk from the street to the club (I know poor souls, right?) but apparently that kept Marion Cotillard from going in and a few others. Handlers were telling their clients not to come because it wasnt secure.
sad
Prince broke his legendary amazing party streak.

SEE PRINCE STOP LISTENING TO THE FANS!! You invite them in and you screw your top dog status! falloff

Evidently the "spy" wasn't paying attention to reports. It was widely reported days before the party that it would not be at his house, but at the club. Give me a break.

How was it a disaster though? Was the club packed, but just with regular fans?

They must mean it was a disaster cause none of Hollywood's elite were there? I'd rather think of him as a guy who likes to throw a concert for devoted 'regular fans' who put food on his plate, then a washed up has-been that ends up being a musical backdrop to A-list celeb's photo opportunities anyway lol

I don't. That paper is being boycotted due to the racist cartoon they printed in their paper.

Secondly, according to what is reported, it seems they got "bits and pieces" and not the facts. It's a bullsh*t newspaper. Thirdly, it seems it all boils down to the celebrities not feeling comfortable being in a club with "ordinary people". Judging from how some of these fans post on this forum, can you blame them?

It was gracious for Prince to invite his fans, but it looks like the celebrities were not in favor of mingling with "ordinary people" , probably in fear of not enough security for them, and possibly worried if false news about them would get out.

No, I think they mean it was a disaster because the snobby celebrities didn't want to be among "regular joes and joannes."

Still, that chimp could have done a better job organizing & promoting the show than Prince & probably would have thought of security issues (even if it handled them by flinging crap at interlopers). And no, that's not intended as a a racist remark but as a comparison of their intelligence.

There have been quite a few equally amusing accounts of its failure.

Yeah, I've never understood why entertainers (especially pro athletes) are regarded higher than humans that are actually needed for living (i.e. miners, lumberjacks, factory workers, physicians, etc). confused

A disaster would have been if Prince played one song and walked off the stage. It sounds like Prince had fun and the people that were actually there had fun.
If the a-list celebs didn't want to mix with ordinary folk, that's there business.
I'll take a hastily put together Prince concert any day of the week. I would have been there if I could have got Monday off. That's the real disaster, that I couldn't be there. lol

You have one and we know what you are doing with it right now.

The amusing accounts are coming from douch bag rag like the NY Post and seem to concern the lack of celebs at the party. The regular people seemed to have enjoyed the party. What it does should is that when P tries to do something for the fans he gets shit on and when does something for the celebs he gets shit for that as well.

I second that, it seems that some people feel afraid of us regular folks, seems they need to open their eyes, and ears a little more often., If the celebs had been paying attention recently they would know everything was cool, he invites fans to his house for parties, and nothing bad has went down yet. I think some celebs forget they were regular folks to at one point in their lifes, when we forget who we are, and where we come from it's becomes a real sad situation.

I actually think that if he had thrown a party at his house and had invited fans over would have been cooler and then given the rest of us a show that was PLANNED and that some of us could have saved up for/gotten off work.

Im biased because I could have gone for free, but still needed the money from my shift but with some notice I could have rescheduled work.

The reviews are great, I heard the show was great, but in the end, Prince is a legend in Hollywood as of the last few years throwing the best parties and a little part of me thought that was cool even if I couldnt be there, I knew Prince was a bad muthafucka and was holding it down in the middle of all these other so called industry parties. I was a little proud of it.

Celebrities like Marion Cotillard didnt come because their people advanced the club and told them it was disorganized and a mess. I heard several celebrities drove by but it was so chaotic they didnt stop to get in.

I dont think it was because they didnt want to hobnob with common people, it was because they were expecting a PARTY and got a CLUB SHOW. I think that was shotty the way it was put together , the people handling the event, I heard it was unprofessional.

I just think Prince needs to hire professional people cus sometimes he comes off like a cheap scrooge and it shows. neutral

Quality Prince, quality! Like dont give us crap music. we want great stuff. Fuck the proteges Give us the vault!!!. Give quality shows, fuck the celebrities if you have to.

Okay now Im just venting. Again lol Im still mad I couldnt get more notice for that damn show! mad
