A lot of people say "who cares." But I doubt these same people cannot deny the excitement of having a #1 single by Prince and his song played everywhere. Why can't some admit that it's an adrenaline rush and damn exciting! I don't begrudge a #1 single and all, especially if it's within the confines of his new ventures, but get over it.

prince could of had more number 1 hits ages ago let alone today. he has released albums with chart topping material since the 80s. talking of recent times though, alot of tracks from Musicology, 3121, Planet Earth and what we know of the new stuff could of been chart toppers. Black sweat would of been the biggest thing to come out of the urban scene in awhile, call my name would of been a major ballad for 04, chelsea rodgers would of been massive, guitar would of been one of the most sung hooks of 07, colonized mind sounds like it could be an anthem type chart topper and Chocolate Box sounds like it could be a club killer. why hasn't/will this been the case? 2 things, 1, no promotion nor constant play like beyonce, (mostly due to princes wishes which i agree with) he definitely won't be today with no label at all and 2, hes prince...the target audience today by the mainstream is kids hence why a ton of crap with simple catchy hooks hit number 1 (in a way, be thankful he aint number 1! lets you know he's doing it right), prince doesn't fit this description entirely and therefore may suffer from rejection of image...we know that these kids (and even some adults) would not like someone if they didn't look like JT or a beyonce aka all the same. no diss to prince though, i think his image is the best ive ever seen. so unique, so cool. anyway, thats my take. if Robert Plant can score an album of the year, anything could happen but from what I've heard so far Prince is still delusional about his place in music. It will take a "back to basics" stripped down approach for him to find real success again.

Yeap the UK for Sure....and maybe Europe... The US, may be not as their music charts are F**k up at the moment... he would need alot more air play in the US just can't see him getting it.. Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..
James Brown & Michael Jackson RIP, your music still lives with us!

its possible, prince is still a major star and if he can get airplay and has a good song, he could do it. The problem is the US, to me if you aint hip hop in the the US you dont have much of a chance of getting to number one. Prince just doesnt make that sort of music (very well) so I cannot see it happening for him. Also the US market is highly competitive and luctrative, music and sales execs do a lot of market research and spends loads on R&D, especially on hop hop artists for the sole purpose of getting to number one. I cannot see Prince getting there in the US without an amazing amount of record label support and marketing, which as we all know - will not happen.

If Prince wanted to he could write a "radio friendly" song. It's up to the labels and promotional directors for radio stations if a song is a hit or not. P has surpassed the "hits" stage in his life. I can't tell you the last time I listened to the radio so I wouldn't know a "Top 10" song if I heard it.
I've always held the impression that if I like it, it's a Top song for me. Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

If Prince did a 5 night stand like U2's about to do & he was once rumoured to do on Conan i think he would. I bet $ Crimson & Clover's the 1st single. Time will tell.

Prince hasnt had a Top 10 single since 1994, WHY would we think in this climate of AGE-ISM, that a almost 51 year old man would have a top 10 hit. Just release music, i dont give a crap where it lands anymore, this isnt the 80's anymore when charts, were kinda fun to look at. If he changes his name to Lil Princeez and gets a ghetto image with crunk glasses of soymilk and ruby encrusted symbols around his neck, a blinged out "Love4oneanother" medallion, a purple pimped out Escalade with chrome rims and symbols on the dubs and Bria and a few more gurlz to be his video ho's it may happen. Thats what you have to do to capture Juveniles now, and the song would have to be called "Purplin on da upstroke" So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Prince will neve be commercial again. But in reality, SO WHAT?? He's great, he's talented and we enjoy his music (for the most part), so that's all that should matter, not being on the Top 10.
