From what Uve heard of Lotus Flow3r, do you think he could have a top 10 single again? Im really digging Crimson and Clover personally...Does anyone think he has a shot at the top ten again? (not album, but single)

In a word, no.
Hopefully the album will be all good, but if there's something commercially accessible on it, he's keeping it to himself for the moment.

my answer? NO | |

No. I like the songs I've heard, but they're definately not 'commercial' enough to make the top 10 (not that that's a bad thing, mind you!). But I'd love to be proven wrong. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

Sure, you never know what the public is gonna like but the DJ's and promoters are gonna have to put it out there.

I think he still can make top 10 in the UK. I'm hot and I don't care who knows it...I got a job to do.

it wouldn't matter how good the music was - the charts are controlled by the music industry...I don't believe the charts have ever been solely based on actual music cd/single sales.... the music industry is as corrupt as most things involving money.....its all about the hype! the actual music quality is secondary!
and since Prince isn't 'playing the game' - he'll be riding the pine again! how many people follow the charts these days anyway? maybe I'm just old...as much as I'd like to see Prince do well again in the 'charts' it certainly isn't a major factor of why I buy his albums....in fact I prefer it when he's not as popular - makes it easier to get tickets - and if the ONA tour is anything to go by, the concerts are a lot more interesting

Prince basically makes music for himself not for the charts.

No, but there's nothing wrong with that.
Prince is at the stage in his career where he doesn't need to be chasing the charts to be successful. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

I think if the moon got in the 7th house, the Bria song could have top 40 success, but top 10 would be pushing it.

Just depends on the whole right time/right place craziness of the industry -- I'm recalling James Brown's "Living In America." I think a Prince hit in the future would be more about selling campy nostalgia. I could care less and I think Prince doesn't either, although he does go on a bit about his hits of past.

I Think "Chelseae Rodgers" is a dancefloor banger. With a good promotion, it would have been a radio & club hit. I know a lot of non-fan-people who loves the song and put it in their ipod.
Maybe with MPLSound, he could have a top 10 single. Something electro & funky.

Maybe with MPLSound, he could have a top 10 single. Something electro & funky. The only song and video from this decade that I repeatedly played. Although I dug the video for SHOE too.

Exactly. I feel like a broken record saying this but it's not about how good a song is anymore, its about how much money is being placed into getting that song on the radio. If you think a T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Akon, Britney Spears or Jonas Brothers song is of great quality, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn and Manhattan that I want to sell you. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I think the songs that I have heard are quite accessible. It now depends on
how badly Prince wants it. And I think that he really does. He has no major label affiliation and so I think that he really wants to prove that he can do it without the "gatekeepers." It will be very interesting to see. I've got a guitar that can part the sea.

He might get in the top 10 (UK) but not sure about number one. He'd need lots of radio play, hype and publicity. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't his only number one in the UK 'The Most Beautiful Girl'? It seems pretty difficult to get to number one, and it amazes me the amount of shit that gets there. I would love to see Prince at number one but I don't think it will happen. Sometimes Life is like the post...You just don't get it!

A lot of people say "who cares." But I doubt these same people cannot deny the excitement of having a #1 single by Prince and his song played everywhere. Why can't some admit that it's an adrenaline rush and damn exciting! I've got a guitar that can part the sea.

Despite all the noise Prince might make to the contrary, he cares.
