The point is my views are just as legitimate since we're talking about something subjective aren't we? Those 3 albums suck complete ass.

By saying an album "sucks ass" is not a form of constructive criticism. It is an insult to the artist who has spent his time creating his work. It does not help the artist in finding out why you feel like that. Is it because you don't like Rnb or is it because you are having a hard time in your life and seeking an easy target to vent your anger on?

This is why there are song/album thread discussions in this forum, there is where people need to go and discuss his work. Not by obsessive name calling on unrelated threads.

I never said it was constructive. lol
I said it was legitimate.

And completely, totally, and undeniable subjective. Being subjective is what makes my opinion as legit as yours.

And it is not the only reason why there are song/album discussions in the albums. Some of the posts are merely for praise, offering nothing constructive in those either.
Each thread has it's own purposes and themes. One can always chose not to click them.

There's absolutely no obsession about hating on Prince, I can sure you that. I listen to the stuff I like and praise it--and I hate the suck ass stuff. It's folks who can't bare the fact that I express myself the way I do or that I would dare dislike something they like, who obsess over my posts. lol And personally, probably obsess over Prince too, which is creepy.

You can assume several different things about why I think , say Planet Earth, sucks ass. That I don't like RnB or whatnot, but you can't really prove it from my posts (btw, I like RnB). All that one can really gather from my post is that I think planet earth sucks ass, without heavy doses of their own OCD conjecturing.

And since when does Prince listen to constructive criticism? He got plenty of it when he released UTCM only to release Graffiti Bridge a few years later. lol

Here's some constructive criticism , in case Prince is reading this (And he isn't): Prince, stop being a douche-bag, leave the org alone, and put out something worth listening to.

Why does Prince have to be a model of perfection?

Why can't you just enjoy his music and if you don't like it then find something else?

... and yeah if you hate the guy then why are you trolling this fan site?

One more question... Don't you understand he's only human.. and like the rest of us he will make mistakes?

i've been wondering what's been up with the new features ..keep them coming!!!
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

it's one thing when ur talking about the music, the marketing of his music, the concerts then when one is describing how he smells, his love life etc ..that's when it becomes 2 obsessive 4 me
[Edited 2/24/09 9:36am]

U hit the nail on the head! Yes he's a celebrity and in the spotlight, However....there is a line that should be drawn when discussing.
The music, videos, concerts appearances are cool to hear about. The stuff about religion, family, sexlife etc., sounds obsessive & scary to me. nutso
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

"3) Prince, along with every other Musician has a right to profit from their work! If you make widgets, and someone continues to go into your company at night to steal them, how would you feel? It is your work, your passion, and your property. Prince’s stand on the ownership of his own work is not only commendable and right, but it is starting to help other artists as well. If people keep stealing from musicians, we will eventually discourage musicians from even making new music! In other words, what will we have if we starve the musicians! "

Prince ain't starving anytime soon. I don't think his stand on his copyright is right in this case. It's not like Prince is a mainstream artist and he's losing sales. The people searching out unreleased material and YouTube videos are the ones who already own all of his released material. Prince is not supplying enough of his music to fit the demand, even if the demand is only from a few thousand fans who want more. Since he's not supplying, people look elsewhere. Prince should release more unreleased material and live shows and he'd make a lot more. It's really all his fault in this regard.

Side note -- I think all the great songs have already been written, so if musicians don't create any new music, that's fine with me. I feel the same way about the movie "industry" as well. I've seen and heard it all.

Let me get this straight...You are saying it is ok to steal somebody elses work, in certain cases, particularly Prince's?

Morals are for losers. Have you ever lied? Driven over the speed limit? Have you posted or viewed a copyright video on YouTube? Cheated on your significant other? Snuck into a movie theater? Or do you live a completely holy and honest life? Prince probably stole ideas for a lot of his hit songs, and a lot of the publishing rights.

You must be the model of moral behavior.
