Why does Prince have to be a model of perfection?

Why can't you just enjoy his music and if you don't like it then find something else?

... and yeah if you hate the guy then why are you trolling this fan site?

whats funny is they talk so much shit but when you check out their myspace pages they got Prince songs streamin and some of their friends are their "i hate prince but I love him" cohorts. they're kinda lame but in some ways their jealousy can be entertaining to me at least cuz they never give it a rest and they never say anything good about him. they're like druggies chasin their first high (old Prince style) but they can't feel it like they did so they're bitter and angry. They should just quit Prince and go to Prince Anonymous meetings.

^the term "fam" should be outlawed, first of all. Secondly, as Prince is a public figure, and in the spotlight, he is subject to praise AND critism. You take the good with the bad. Plus, people have a right to their opinion, whether you agree with it or not. It is what it is.
Lastly, it is easy to tell the stalker fans-those are the ones who analyze Prince to the point of obsessive compulsion.

I have wondered this myself since joining this site. There was a little of this on HQ, but no where near as malicious. I can understand a discussion of things that Prince does that we don't agree with or understand, but damn, people! Is all the hosility necessary? It seems every move he makes is critisized! In one thread they complained he doesn't give to charity, yet in the same thread complained if he does, it's just for publicity. That's just one example....it makes me just shake my head. Prince is intitled to live his life the way he wants. He doesn't owe us anything. If you are so sickened by his actions and his lifestyle, move on. Otherwise, let's discuss without such contempt. After all, I'm not perfect....are you?

Nobody is asking Prince to be perfect. But not acting like an asshole to his own fans isn't too much to ask for. Most of the folks that are constantly being bash actually do like his music--his good music. And they are allowed to discuss, dislike, and otherwise dismiss his crap stuff. And yes, I understand one person's junk is another person's art. But isn't that what dialogue is for? This isn't Germany circa 1939.

This is never about why haters hate. It's always about why some fans just can't understand why other fans don't think, act, and lick ass the way they do. Every person has their own personal likes and dislikes. Hanging a label on those who don't see eye to eye with you is something George Bush would do. It's almost like a trigger mechanism that they can't suppress. The minute they see something that offends them, they try to suppress it.
