Oh hell no!

I've heard stories from people who've attended these things that they were made to do some of the stupidest shit imaginable (dance offs with no music, playing weird games, and conversations that made certain folks uncomfortable).

I think meeting up close with fans is a great thing. And seeing Prince up close while performing is awesome.

But he should do it in a venue like the Rio in Vegas or something where he has to sign a CONTRACT so #1) he's required to perform on schedule and #2) fans can adequately voice grievances if something is wrong.

Plus if you fly out to Minneapolis to see Prince, and you are disappointed, what the fuck else are you going to do? In Vegas you can go catch a show instead. You have options, and Prince has to compete with those.

I don't meant to sound negative, but whenever Prince is given full control over a situation, weird shit always comes down. He didn't direct Purple Rain--He did direct Graffiti Bridge. lol

No I wouldn't go if he did another celebration.

I would've liked to have gone, but going from one country to another costs big bucks.

On another note, I don't know who this "nastyarse" is, but he's crackin me up with that sig! lol falloff

Yes, and yes.

I'd love for him to revive the yearly Celebrations. I went to the 2002 Celebration and it was fantastic..and even the parts of that week that weren't absolutely fantastic were, at least, interesting smile.

I wish there would be a Paisley Park party every now and again, too. I was able to go to a handful of those, and seeing him perform in that setting was really incredible. Even the parties where he didn't end up playing were a good time just because of the atmosphere and the chance to peoplewatch and be inside PP.

Yes!

My experience was cool. Within an hour of being on the grounds the first day - he performed a quick daytime mini set for whoever was there. Later that night - I said "thank you" to, and shook hands with, George Clinton (which although just a hallow encounter - was something I never thought I would do in my lifetime).

I saw Terry Lewis playing bass in a "live" jam situation - which you don't see everyday. Performances from Prince, Clinton (with Maceo), and Amel Larreaux were all part of the deal for like $75. ...Plus I toured his studios, saw cool memorabilia, was introduced to the music of Nikka Costa, and was able to buy some Paisley Park merchandise not readily available to a guy from California.

I tell my friends about it to this day as one of the best experiences of my lifetime.
We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams.

I think I missed my opportunity....I should have gone in 2002 - a week long event would have been worth it for the expense to travel from NZ, but nowdays I have more important things to do with my $$$.... I've seen a 'spectacular show' (D&P, Sydney 1992), a 'hits formula' show (in Sydney 2003) and a small 'private' show (middle front show at the soundcheck 2003) and stood within 2 feet of Prince at the afterparty....it would have to be something different to get me to open my wallet again...maybe if his next tour is based on the NPG Trio show at the Indigo in 2007 I'd spend up...but nah, the days of wild' seem to be over

of course given the right circumstances I could change my mind!

I believe those stories relate to the Rainbow Children group discussions at one of the Celebrations, not the PP parties.
