I knew it but just to confirm this is from songfacts.com

Initially this song samples Bob and Earl's "Harlem Shuffle," then later on it borrows elements from a number of other tracks including "Tramp" by Lowell Fulsome, "Get Off" by Prince and "You're No Good" by Harvey Arverne.

There's the entire Purple Album that samples almost every Purple Rain song with Jay Z's Black Album lyrics on top.

Prince has sampled himself a few times too:

• Carmen Electra's All That samples almost the entire background music of Adore
My Name Is Prince samples both Controversy and I Wanna Be Your Lover
• Musicology samples several songs at the end, such as Little Red Corvette and Sign O The Times
• Gett Off contains a tiny musical sample of Get Off
• I Wanna Melt With U contains a sample of Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic

There are a few more, but I can't think of them right now.

and Party Up

oh and House of Pain's Jump Around isn't a sampled scream, it's a sound effect...I've listened to this enough times to tell the difference

However they did sample 'I don't have a gun' from Nirvana's Come As You Are

[/quote]

So have I. And it is the sample, but it's an edit of the scream, not the complete scream. It's starts about a split second into it and then doesn't finish through, so of course it sounds like a sound effect. But if you compare them side by side you can tell the exact split second that they used. They were smart because it's not really a "sample" (so no credit has to be given) but more like a sound effect using that sample. I knew back then when it first came out because "Gett Off" had just come out the year before.

From "Jump Around" from Wikipedia:

The song is known widely by its distinctive horn fanfare intro, sampled from the Bob & Earl's 1963 track "Harlem Shuffle". The squealing sound at the start of every bar of music is a scream sampled from Prince's "Get Off." The song also samples "Daddy Sang Bass" track # 12 from Johnny Cash's The Holy Land originally penned by Carl Perkins.

No one has said anything about Ja Rule yet.

Have they? eek My eyes are so dizzy from reading. Anyway, while ago, he did this ATROCIOUS re-make of Pop Life that at the time I liked but later loathed as I heard it again and again. Obviously it wasn't a hit and was simply horrid. It's a wonder Prince didn't sue the baggy pants off of him for doing it. I wish I could remember the song but it was almost like a word for word rap fusion crap thing with him totally pooing all over the song. UGH....gonna google it for a minute and see what comes up.

The sample in "Jump Around" sounds like a keyboard effect, where as "Gett Off" just sounds like distorted vocals. I don't think "jump around" samples it, but it's possible.

I know that "My Name Is Prince" was sampled by a few. So were some of the interludes from the prince album (mostly Mayte's (or Carmen's) scream). One of the songs was a HUGE HIT, but I can't think of it off of the top of my head.

"Round and Round" was sampled for the Top Chef opening theme.
