I don't know about the coffee, but I'm working on a detailed review of the box set for those who are interested in such things.

It's tough to find enough time and the review is getting quite lengthy, so I'm not sure when it will be finished. Soon, I hope.

And you damn right I'm still jammin'. wink

It's Fantastic. Family Name is Blowing me away with his Guitar playing and his Screaming. It's Amazing, but I've been asking/begging for a Live Prince album for Eons so now it's Here and you are gonna Enjoy it so Much. I'd give it 5 stars which would mean Classic for Rolling Stone. This is the Album Prince Affectionados have been asking for. Thank You Prince for answering our Prayers. Prince Delivers with Flying Colors. What a work of Art from the Consumate Artiste Extroidinaire.

i've been enjoying it too damn much to write a review on it...

all i can say is that it's nearly flawless... the only flaw that i have found with it, is that he has taken out the wnpg skit with all of the covers that he did in concert... for me, this was part of what made this tour different was the covers... 1+1+1 sequing into "love rollercoaster"... plus the outstanding versions of "case of u," "lalala means i love u," and "sing a simple song" which are songs that he did at almost every concert on this tour...

plus on the inside of the booklet, it mentions a wnpg playlist, which won't make sence to people who didn't make it to a concert, because the whole skit has been removed from the cd...

and this is not really a complaint, just an oddity... the only horn players that are mentioned anywhere in the boxset are maceo, candy, & greg boyer... however, on several songs on the cds, you can hear him telling najee to blow his horn... confuse... just thought that was strange...

so, besides the absence of the covers, i have no complaints aobut the cd... the overdubs are, in fact, minimal... it's hard to complain about songs that didn't make it onto the set, because everything here is of such high quality... and "we do this" with george clinton is about the funkiest damn song in the world... that is the shit right there...

anyway, i give it star star star star star...

You mean he doesn't include the segue into "Love Rollercoaster" in his performing "1+1+1 Is 3"???... sad

Damn...

I just hope that whichever version of "Xenophobia" he used doesn't include his "skit" of asking if it's better to "give or recieve" in the middle of that song...he did that at the Kodak performance, and it disrupted the great groove and flow of that song...

Did he take out the covers eh performed due to licensing etc perhaps? I do like that 111=3 into Love Rollercoaster--but we have the boot for that anyways.

Attention! SPOILER!!!

Do you really think he would edit that? ...well, he didn't.
But everybody wants unedited live albums, don't they?

Would you like to see the menu? I can recommend the
soup of the day. Tomatosoup with meatballs [best
meatballs in the city, I kid you not].

And we've got loads of delicious sandwiches.

Will a tuna sandwich do? And do you want cappocino or
espresso?

You know what, think about it for a moment and I'll be
back to take your order in a minute...

smile

Ya got any cream cheese wontons? What about hot cocoa?

I'm just a lonely listener, sitting in front of my computer, with a headset plugged into my SONY WALKMAN CD player...

I know the type of music that feeds me. But do I have the right to post a review? Maybe if Prince the man asked for some constructive criticism, or I might say I like this song, or prefer that one and why.

I enjoy reading what others write, and respect their opinions. I wouldn't know where to start! biggrin

I'd feel silly. biggrin Sorry, it's just how I feel.

I see your point. But you shouldn't be intimidated about it. Like you said, you can write what you like and why (if you wanted to post a review - I'm not trying to push you to do it), and people will understand. You don't have to have a degree in music or anything. In fact, MORE people might relate to your feelings about it. It's cool though, do what's most comfortable for ya. nod

I'll sum it up in one sentence: All the interactivity of Prince and the audience is priceless. That is what makes this set worth it.

I keep listening to it. The music is awesome, the band sounds tight, Prince sounds like he is having a great time, and you can feel the audience. It would not be nearly as great without their participation!

You, the fans of Prince are the real stars of this set. Consider it YOUR set, as many of you are in the audience showing your love, singing songs close to your heart, and singing them to an artist that has made many of you feel good for a long time.

Treasure it, it's a keeper.

biggrin

Tom

The ONA live CD is very good.

His performance of Joy In Repetition isnt as tight as, say the 1996 TV concert special, but its more like a long jam. He changed one of the lyrics to "four letter words will not be heard in this place tonight".

Disc 3 is great cruising music. The groove he put together for Peach as is a trip, not to mention the lengthy Dorothy Parker.

When U Were mine is done in falsetto, which he hasnt done in a while.

His performance of Joy in Repitition is a 1000 times better on it ain't over than the version from 1996!!! One of the best Prince guitar work ever recorded. Enough said.
