Continuing the Rick James is better than Prince Thread...I think NOT!!!!

I have no clue as too what Ricks been up too, except for his recent Sexual assult charges and lack of hit making funk again.

As for Prince...hmmm

Well lets see, He's recently finished up a great tour called "One Night Alone"
Critics and Concert goers, gave excellent reviews to his new music on the set and the overall performance, he just finished things up a week ago in Asia.

He's performing on Jay Leno Tonight show, on Dec 13th.
To promote his NEW Independent Release "One Night Alone-Live" its a Box Set, and this project is dedicated to his millions of fans who are apart of his NpgMusicClub, in which each summer he opens his Multi-Million dollar facilities to the public for a weeklong concert series featuring him and todays top music artist like: Alicia Keys, Angie Stone, Common, Erykah Badu, Norah Jones, Macy Grey, Lenny Kravitz, plus some old friends such as Sheila E., Rosie Gaines and The Time, not to mention listening sessions of new indie releases and some vault material, not to mention dance parties, he also has tons of ppl who fly in every year for this from Tokyo to Australia and Netherlands to Germany and all over the United States, I remember Vh1 and Mtv were there and refused admission because he didn't want the media attention for it.
Prince continues to play sold out shows in arenas and theatres from 7,000 seaters in Las Vegas new Alladin Resort to 20,000 seaters in Milwaukee and I can send proof and this has been within the past 2years.
Prince may not be heard on radio or music television but he's still relevant, because he's released over 20 some odd albums w/ many radio hits and multi-million record sells.
He is known all over the Globe and has respect from music fans abroad.
He may not seem that important to you, who is as critical as an artist who has fallen and has anomosity against someone who was once considered his contempary.
Prince may not be #1 at the billboard charts or selling 10million records per release, but he is a true musician who respects music and will not allow rappers to sample his shit, because its all negative.
He may allow a "Common" or "Q-tip"to sample because they don't disrepect women and degrade our society.
Prince has many producers and artist wanting to sample, but he is the one who has to clear clearance on that bogus bubble gum shit...
ask p-diddy who wanted to sample Prince all day! LOL
Anyways... My fight is that Prince is as great a musician as ppl say Rick James is greater.
Prince has major influence on artist of today from Punk bands: Papa Roach and NoDoubt to R/b-Soul: D'angelo and Maxwell to Rockers: U2, Manson and Chilli peppers and even BoyBands have mentioned him as someone who they look up too musically and style wise and even more so today!
Prince is still around and well, and has continued to show ppl who have no education of his work, that he is still very much on the forefront and when no one was interested in the internet...Prince was one of the first along w/ David Bowie to launch websites against the record companies and go strickly interactive w/ fans and give up mainstream...to be free and clear of all contractual obligations of the Industry and release music at their own pace and be successful in the self employed market, if he didn't have an impact culturally and musically, record execs. wouldn't have signed him for 1 album deals w/ Arista and Emi... and thou those records didn't go on to be huge blockbuster at the charts or in the mainstream, they still got mad props from critics and fans , aswell as charting in the top 10.
Even Mtv, BET and Vh1 jumped on for the ride, because they know, just like everyone else know, Prince is still one of the greatest performers and singer/songwriters and producers around. From past to present Prince has made his mark and he ain't thinking about Micheal, Madonna or Rick.

So everyone do your thing and let Prince do his!

The idea that some ppl think Rick James is more talented than Prince is just plain funny. What a good way to end the night...with a joke.

Rick James has a new CD due in 2003.He has recorded around 25 new songs for it.He is also going to do a reunion tour with Teena Marie,in the spring and summer. In addition, there are plans to release a live DVD of a 1981 concert (Teena Marie was the opening act).

A few years ago,Rick recorded an acoustic album, with guest appearances from Rod Stewart and Lenny Kravitz. The album has been cancelled, but a few tracks may pop up on his new R&B/pop CD which I mentioned above.

If Rick can just get his personal life together,he just might be okay.

David, I've seen some of your posts over there on the RJ board, and I see you've remained pretty neutral on this topic! smile But, it's good to hear all of the positive news coming out of his camp for the future, musically.

Although, I love Rick and all, he just doesn't compare to Prince! Prince is just more multi-faceted than Rick, and I'm sure if Prince put his attention on funk 24/7 like Rick has throughout the majority of his career, he'd be known as the funkier of the two (even though I still think he already is)! I look at it like this (as I do with many other artists): Prince can do all of what Rick can do, but Rick can't do all of what Prince can do. But like I said, I love me some Rick, so this is in no way bashing this VERY talented artist! Couldn't hate on Rick anyway, he was the one who brought Lady Tee out to the world! smile

Am I the only one who remembers when Prince toured with Rick James and the so called king of punk-funk had 2 let Prince go becuz u know tha purple-one was killing da crowd and ofcourse Rick couldn't handle Prince showing him how 2 rock the stage.
Nowadays I hear of Rick (on B.E.T) callin Prince a fag. What is up with this washed up loser. Guess jealously still haunts this Rapist-Drug-Addict.
