~Prince Haiku.~ Prince Haiku.
Write a Prince related Haiku. The Haiku does not have 2 begin with Prince’s name, but it certainly may. A Haiku follows a rule. The Haiku has five lines. 1. A Single word. 2. A two word description of the first word. 3. Three adjectives that describe the first word. 4. A 4 word statement that supports the first word. 5. A Single word that reinforces the fourth rule. An Example that I wrote as a teen is: Rainbow Colorful Highway Gleaming, glowing, extending A passage far beyond Paradise. A new example that I just wrote for this thread. Give it a try…It’s fun. A haiku is a 17 sylable poem in 3 lines, in the format 5, 7, 5; and should contain a seasonal reference. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku I don't know what the form you're using is, I don't think I've encountered it before, did you invent it? I quite like it, although I'm finding it much more difficult than 575 haiku. Here's my feeble attempt (I might need to have another go at it).

A limerick has a 2-2-1 rhyming pattern (ex five lines ending with cat, hat, stop, mop, fat). Honestly...I wondered the same thing based on teenage notes. I just did a little research and I apologize 4 making up my own rules...
However, what I found out was that the Japanese borrowed the form from the Chinese. It is based on syllables...yet the Japanese did have a 5 line stanza occasionally that went 5-7-5-7-7. There was controversial debate on the matter when the English began practicing the form...it was said to cause a lot of fights because more can be said in 17 syllables in the English language than in Japanese. There are foreign adaptions and the rules are multifaceted yet narrow. So I am sorry...Thanx 4 the correction...when it comes to the syllable rule for sonnets...I know those.
